Engine question

My 69 gmc has a 1973 Chevelle 350 small block with heads, intake and exhaust if the 69 350 anyone know if there was a purpose to this? It's confusing to me that someone would spend the time to use all their 69 components on a 1973 unless there was a hp or torque reason

Re: Engine question

I'm sure that's probably just what they had on hand. That's what is done 99% of the time, when it comes to hot rodding

Cool Re: Engine question

x 2 with what was on hand . that's the way folks with limited funds stay on the road as inexpensively as possible .

Re: Engine question

They prob figured the '69 pre smog heads & intake were better flowing than the 73 smog heads.

Re: Engine question

Or, the original engine had a bad/cracked or something block and they found a cheap block out of the chevelle to put in and bolt on all the other parts

Re: Engine question

A lot of times it's easier to keep all the peripherals so that you know they will fit your chassis (ie, accessory drive bracketry, water pump and cylinder heads for attachments, etc).

Re: Engine question

What all these guys said.

If you find an all original small block engine in anything that has fitment from '55 to the '90s. Then you hit a small goldmine HAHA
