Dana 60 3.54 or 3.73??
My dana 60 is currently geared low.. 4.54.. I am only using the truck for cruising and a few trips to the store, There will be no towing but I do live in the mountains.. So I am now going to change my gear ration but I am unsure if I should use 3.54 or 3.73..I know they are very close in nature but I would love to know what people have chose and why?? Any advice would be fantastic!! Thanks in advance

Re: Dana 60 3.54 or 3.73??
My 68 GMC is a 1/2 ton and has 3 speed manual. It came with a Dana 44 with 3.54 rear end. I've used it for towing in the past and just for driving it around and never had a problem with the way it drives but this is mostly flat country driving.
Your's being a 3/4 ton and possibly driving up and down hill/mountain roads the 3.73 may be a better option.

3.73s but you are going to lose quite a bit of power with that small 6, especially in the mountains
The 3.54 and 3.73 can be worlds apart, depending on what you want out of your truck, I recently swapped from a 3.54 to a 3.73 what a difference with a 4 speed taking off from the start, and I have a big block. It changed the whole dynamic of the truck. If I had an automatic I'm sure it would have been hardly noticeable |

Depends on if you plan to haul stuff or tow with it. If so I would be considering a 4.10 gear. WES

my 250 6 banger is married up to a turbo 400... i am still on the fence about which way to go but right now i think 3.73 but be the right choice considering the 6 banger and where I live.. i def will not be towing... towing is saved for my diesel
