Suspension ID: 1/2ton vs 3/4 ton (73+ on a '72)
I am 99% sure I have 73-87 front suspension from when the truck was converted to 5 lug. The problem is, I'm not sure if it was from a C10 or C20. Before pulling everything apart, can anyone ID any differences between the two?

Looks like a c10. I'm pretty sure the c20 did not have rubber control arm bushings during those years.
But then again you never know what has been done to your truck in the past 40+ years. I had a c10 that the only part that was off a c10 was the upper control arm shaft. The rest was all c20. Just measure your tie rods and ball joints then go to the parts store and measure the new ones. The size difference between the c10 and c20 will be obvious. Hope that helps some...

Thanks Acorn. You have confirmed my suspicions, but I'll double check. I just didnt want to go into the parts store blind

Well, a C20 spindle should not fit 5 lug rotors. A C10 Spindle should not fit C20 ball joints. C20 ball joint will not fit C10 lower arms.
I cannot imagine someone cutting, fabbing C20 parts to fit a C10 5 lug rotor when the proper C10 parts are far and away easier to get. To quote LongHornMan, " I'd bet a kick in the daddy parts" it's a C10.

Thanks Eraser. I did confirm today that the front end is a C10. The truck is getting a complete front end rebuild... balljoints, tie rods, control arm bushings, etc, etc. I plan on adding a sway bar as well (its never had one). I'm really looking forward to the results.
PS: Whatever happened to Longhornman? I havent seen him post in a long time. I used to love his burb road trips
