MCGAUGHYS axle flip kit
I just finished installing my MCGAUGHYS flip kit 33156-1 on my '81 shortbed C-10, and I now can't put my shocks on due to the u-bolt plate being so close to the lower shock mount.
I took this picture before I tightened everything down, the plate now sits even with the shock mount bolt. Anybody else run in to this problem or have any good solutions? I bought MCGAUGHYS 1850 shocks to put on here.

Re: MCGAUGHYS axle flip kit
I knew I had seen a thread somewhere http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=470952
Still haven't decided how I'm gonna fix this yet though.

Re: MCGAUGHYS axle flip kit
I have notched the spring plate before to make room for the nut. It worked fine. On my newest truck i had to weld on new lower shock mounts anyway, so i spaced them far enough away from the plate for clearance.

Re: MCGAUGHYS axle flip kit
That's what I ended up doing.

Re: MCGAUGHYS axle flip kit
Common issue w/flip kits (all brands). Take it apart enough to put the bolt in for shock extension brackets as once they're in the shocks can be serviced w/o issues.

Re: MCGAUGHYS axle flip kit
That's the plan later on when these drop shocks need replacing.
