Odd 4x4 in this picture.
I was on craigslist a few months back and peeked at the Chevy for sale in the picture. But why I saved the picture was the rig sitting beside it, not sure what manufacture/model it is. Maybe a 71/72 Blazer with some mods or add-ons? Any other ideas?

Re: Odd 4x4 in this picture.
That's a 72 or 73 Jeep C101 Commando, earlier Commandos had a front more like the CJ Jeeps. I always wanted one when I was into CJs but could never find a descent one around here, very prone to rust. My cousin had a couple of them, they make pretty cool trail Riggs if you flip the axles.

The grill is similar to a Chevrolet.

Re: Odd 4x4 in this picture.
Yep, Commandos were the Willys Jeepster reborn as a 4wd. Jeepsters were only made '48-'51 and were marketed as a dual purpose car for hiway or off road. Definitely a step up in comfort to the flat fender CJ. In '67 Jeep brought it back as a 4wd Jeepster Commando. I like the CJ-style grille the most, but after all these years I'd happily take a late front end. Google Jeep Commando and you'll get plenty of great pictures of these. I can see where the 'odd" came from. first of all, it looks kind of odd, you really don't see them, and they are a unique style that compares closest to the Blazer yet by no means a whole lot the same.

Re: Odd 4x4 in this picture.
Thanks for the clarification. To be honest, growing up during that era in Florida, I can't ever remember seeing one of the Jeep Commandos. We were all CJ 5 body styles, wagoneers or the Jeep trucks. Maybe they hid them over in Afrika or some place else...
