Anyone running mob steel wheels?
Considering running 18" or 20" mob steel wheels on a 60-66 model truck and was wondering if anyone else is. Any pictures would be appreciated.
Thanks, Wade |

Re: Anyone running mob steel wheels?
creep has some
from the wheel/tire pic thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...&postcount=288 my friend just ordered some for his ferd, adam and pam hooked him up and mobsteel even modified his original ferd caps for him to fit the rims. only drawback I see is the weight, 48lbs.

Re: Anyone running mob steel wheels?
I'm pretty sure these were 18"-20" mob steels on this truck that was at the C10 Clubs 9th annual Get Together last October. I don't remember the tire sizes.

Re: Anyone running mob steel wheels?
I am running 20's in the rear and 18's up front. They set them up to receive the dog dish caps, still waiting on some beauty rings to put on them. Only pic I have right now, truck is just getting finished up, will try to post additional pix later.

Re: Anyone running mob steel wheels?
I like those!
I think those would be the only wheels I would put on my truck other than the Rally's I have now. Are you 6 lug or 5? Were they pricey? What size tires you run with them?? oh and more pix when you get them please!

Re: Anyone running mob steel wheels?
I'm interested in the backspace and tire size you are running as well! I am planning on 18's all around - do you have to pay extra for them to modify them for the dog dish caps?

Re: Anyone running mob steel wheels?
"27 carter" that is one fine ride you have there. And to answer the other question, yes they charge $15 per wheel for the clips and to set them up. I think they said its $35 per wheel for a basic color to powdercoat.
Thanks, Wade |

Re: Anyone running mob steel wheels?
I'm curious how the rolling mass of a 20" steel wheel feels in terms of turning and stopping distances. When I take my heavy steel beadlocks off and switch to aluminum M/T's, its pretty obvious. (kinda like a ballplayer swinging a weighted bat)

Re: Anyone running mob steel wheels?
Slow build,
I love those as well however I am 5 lug and it appears these only come in 6lugs. Looking more, I see many sizes and bolt patterns available.

Re: Anyone running mob steel wheels?
I believe the total for the wheels, tires, clips, and beauty rings was right around 2200 delivered (raw steel, we painted at shop). These are 5 lugs. I don't have the truck with me so, I'll have to get back to you on the tire size. I also have to check on the backspacing, I know they set that up for us at Detroit Steel Wheels, we went with their recommendation. We had a little rubbing on the rear lip well, so had to do some trimming there.
Got to drive it yesterday for the first time, didn't really notice to heavy feel with the wheels, of course I did upgrade the drivetrain a bit! |

Re: Anyone running mob steel wheels?
Mine are 20''x8'' with 4.5'' backspace. I am using the 92 C 1500 centercaps I was using on my older rims. Switching from 15'' steelies to 20'' steelies I didn't notice too much difference in stopping.

Re: Anyone running mob steel wheels?
If one of yall is doing any maintenance and has a wheel off, I'd love to know what the weight difference is w/tire and all.

Here's my panel. Ordered 18's may go up to 20' or maybe just in the rear.
