How do you know if a bumper (bar) OEM?

I received a rear "sport" bumper as a gift about two decades ago, for my 1971. It has a "Stockton Plating" plate on the back. The back of the bumper is painted black, but there's chrome underneath.

How can you tell you have an OEM bumper w/o a parts sticker?................. Doesn't seem likely they'd re-chrome a reproduction, especially 20 some years ago. I found a reproduction on-line and claimed 24 pounds. I'll weigh mine tonight, see what happens.

I jacked it up when installed it long ago, though it's fairly minor. I don't believe the brackets were lined up correctly, so they put a few small dents in it.....That's what I get for not paying attention. If this is OEM, at some point I'll have it re-chromed. I'm no body man, but i'd think straightening it out is straight forward. Seems couple of plates on both sides and tighten the bolts until straight. Just guessing.

Thanks

Re: How do you know if a bumper (bar) OEM?

Just weighed mine. It's 24-25 pounds as well. Still not sure. Anyone have a OEM rear bumper handy they can weigh pretty please? (71-72 sport rear bumper)?

Know any other method to determine OEM? Of course the sticker is gone. They painted the back anyway. I've read some repro are quite bendy. Other that what I did when I mounted it (OP), this doesn't feel that flimsy.

Just seems a little odd they'd re-chrome a repro., some 20 years ago. It would be nice to know what I got.

No idea? I know I'm not the only one that's looked into this. How do you know if your rear bumper is OEM (3885614) without a part no.?

I inquired on an NOS. Asked them about purchasing and net weight. No response.

Re: How do you know if a bumper (bar) OEM?

I wonder what the original rear sport bumper weighs?

Sounds like an original that was rechromed.
