Dash Question.can anyone tell me what the .......

I have a 73 c10 custom truck, zero options. and I would like to know what purpose the recessed slot at the lower left of the dash bezel serves?
I cant figure it out? anyone have an idea?

I imagine someone put theat in the bezel over the years. All of the non air bezels I have seen had that area totally flat . just a place to put things.

that's an original to the truck and it has no air. I have seen another one just like it. still stumped.

Ive never seen that in any of the 73-74 trucks. Its a shame someone did that to a nice 73-74 bezel

It is the same bezel but that eBay one isn't 73/74 it's newer.

Do we all agree it is aftermarket? My grand national had an aftermarket security system. You had to insert this small chip/card in a slot on the dash to start the car. Can't remember the name of that system. Maybe this is something like that?

lets see some up close pictures. i want to know if it is aftermarket or not and that pic doesnt tell me if its actually molded in the dash or not.

that light! every time I push it someone comes across the dash speaker and says " Gotham city Commissioner Gordon " could this be the ........ bat-truck?

This is what is left on our 77......when we bought it, it had a digital clock in it. The bezel looked just like yours and the clock was removable from the bezel.

Just because his truck is a 73 doesn't necessarily mean the clock would have been from 73. It could have been something a former owner installed sometime in the 80's or 90's.
