Driveshaft lenght

I have a 84 SWB chevy. All PB suspension with a 5.3 and 4l60e tranny. The drive shaft I have seems to be really short 54 in. The yoke is only about an in into tranny. When I bottom the yoke in the tranny and measure to the center of U-jiont on rear, I get 57 in. Would it be best to get a a driveshaft around 56 or 56 1/2 in?

Re: Driveshaft lenght

With vehicle suspension at ride height push yoke all the way into transmission, pull out 1 inch, measure u-joint center to center between yokes and that is the length you need.
