NPD brass heater

I needed a new heater core and have been searching for a brass one. National parts depot had one for almost half the price of classic industries. Quality looks good as well. I will try and install it in the heater box tonight.

I do have one question. The aluminium ones I have seen come with a gasket that goes between the core and the box. The original one didn't have one. Is that because of the difference in material? Do I need it? Thanks!
