Question getting a blazer/patchpanels

Hey guys I found a 73-75 blazer the other day on a ranch where we were drilling a well. It was parked under a tree. It is in pretty good shape, except it is rusted over the wheel wellson the rear quarter panels, and on the lower part of the tailgate., but other than that it is in real good shape, all the glass is good the top is in good shape and it is all complete inside.I asked the rancher if he would part ways with the old blazer and he said he would. I asked him what he would take for it , my mouth dropped when he said $200. I said sold!!My question is where would I find some patch panelsfor it and where would I find some catalogs for parts for the blazer. Any help with this would be great.

I feel like a lucky bas...... I have always wanted a fully convertable blazer but couldn't find one for a good price. But the bow tie gods shined on me that day. all i had to do was air up the tires and drive it away.So you can say that for that day I was a lucky bas.....

you really are lucky, i just paid $400 for a 75 jimmy with no engine/tranny or t-case, and rusted out floorboards and 4 flats.....
i thought i got a deal...DOH!!!!

what 's S.P.I.D.? Man it is a 1975, It has a 350 with granny 4-speed with 3.73 gears 12 bolt rear 10 bolt front. It has a 4 inch lift on it. The tires are pretty bad weater cracked and a bit small 30X9.50 (soon to be replaced with 33 or 35).The seats were re done 3 years ago. The guys brother had it second owner and needed money so he sold it to him, with the promise to buy it back and never did...So the rancher sold it for half of what he gave his brother for it. the guy never drove off the ranch except to the raod to get the mail.he waited two years for his brother and was still waiting until I asked if it was for sale. I will post some pics as soon as i can.

thats awesome. the S.P.I.D is a sticker/card on the glove box that tells you what options the truck came with. its just kinda cool to look at and try to see what it was stock. there is also a cool link to check the VIN number to find out where it was made and what drivetrain it had originally...

Thats what that thing is called. Well I will have to check it to see what it had. Is there any thing that makes the 75 stand apart from the 73 and the 74. just wondering

i know the 73 had a deeper grill, sat inward more. other than that i am not sure. hang on i will check my notes.

ok, got the answers.

the wheel bases are the same for all 3 years=106.5"
length is the same=184.5"
heigth is the same for the 73 and 74=71.5"
the 75 was a 1/2 inch shorter.=71"
the 74 models came with a factory padded roll bar. i dont know if that means the 73 didnt have a roll bar, or if it didnt have padding, it was not very specific.
in 75 the dredded catalytic converter was standard equipment. except for early production year 75's. ( mine was an early year and doesnt have one.)

thanks I really appreciate the info. I got lucky to and dont have a cat converter. I am happy about that. Was the 12 bolt rear standard on the 75 or did some one add it later. Did they put the Dana 44 on the 75 on the front or was it the corporate 10 bolt. I dont mean to ask so many questions I just want to find out about a little more about my blazer.dont mean to bug

its good to know what youve got. as far as diffs go, here's the breakdown.
from '73-'76 it was corp.12 rear/ dana44 front
in '77 they had the d44, and an optional corp 10 front
in 79 they got rid of the d44 and only had the corp10 in front
in '82 blazers really took a turn for the worse, they had corp. 10's front and rear.

If you need parts, the one's Chris sell at www.73-87ChevyTrucks.com are of good quality. The quarter panels are a little hard to get ahold of, but if you need to repair above/around the wheel wells you could always use the complete wheel arch, or just the wheel arch upper section depending on the extent of the rust.

If it is rusted out there then the rocker boxes and probably the front floors are toast. THe rocker boxes are what suport the fire wall with the top off.
$200 is still a great deal if it runs. THe floors can be patched. I made a sup frame for the floors to replace the rockerboxes. It has worked out pretty good but it was a pain in the butt.

Ohhh my 75 is named Dollar. It got that name because that's what I paid for it. I drove it home.

75 will have a better hard top then a 73 and some 74's. The 73 top was butted seams and prone to cracking appart. They redesigned and overlapped the top over the side to get more surface area to beef it up. Otherwise the same other then some very subtle cosmetic stuff.

Man I thought I got a good deal, $1 fir a blazer that runs is awsome. I was more that happy to pay 200 because the blazer runs awsome. what exactly is a rocker box.
