HO52 found in field is it any good?
I used to have a 69 c10. Owned and drove it from 1987 to 1999 or so. Did some towing with it and dreamed of bigger brakes. So I acquired a HO52 Eaton rear end from a friends wrecking yard. It was in a '72 C20 Cheyenne auto as I remember. Just found it in my pasture. Guess its an Eaton. Is this rear end worth saving? Should I disassemble it and sell the Pig? Its prolly worth $30 for scrap. Been sitting where it is out doors for what? 27 years or so since I brought it home. Any suggestions? Might be more work than its worth but i always hate to see good things go to scrap.

Re: HO52 found in field is it any good?
Welcome! Check the axle seals for leakage, pull the cover & inspect the internals. Unless it's contaminated inside, it might be just fine. Hate to see it scrapped if it's still usable, those things are almost too tough to break. May not be worth a lot, but someone might be tickled to have it.
