C20 to Hy Rail

I'm just wanting to see if anybody has done such a swap using 1 ton dually parts. Speaking figuratively, I'd take front parts from some C30 s and bolt them on to the C20.
All truck parts are same era. My build consist of taking this 1982 C20 single cab long bed and giving it the Hyrail treatment, so-to-speak. I'd get front adapters for all 4 wheels leaving the stock suspension in place. Any ideas and facts?

just curious...but why?...are you trying to make it look like a railroad truck? that c20 looks great as is

I believe hi-rail wheels have a narrower offset and are much heavier than regular wheels. If it served a purpose, okay, but I just don't see how it's worth it simply for looks.

It's such a pretty truck as it is!

i had a 74 burb -2 wd that had a high rail kit on it ! it was a 1/2 ton-i found the kit free with 17.5 wheels & had new 8 ply tires on them ! wife hated the looks of it ! she said it looked like it was going to tip over -sideways ,very narrow tread !BUT it would go anywhere with them luggy rear tires ,snow or mud -you couldnt get it stuck! plus the tire height -really increased mileage w/the 454& 400 turbo-the truck literally rusted in half -wish i could find another one !it never had the big steel railroad track wheels ,i always wanted to try out some old right-away track ???the truck even had the flipper lever to lock the front wheels -straight -when on the rail track

You can find the steel track set up on CL. I wouldn't go that far, LOL. I may have to settle for dually wheels since I can get those on the cheap. Soon, very soon. I can always go back to stockers if it don't look as I imagine. "It's my party and I can cry if I want to."

Using front dually adapters at each wheel and 16" or 17" dually wheels with the dish faced out would be the way to go. That would pretty much give you the look, keep track width where it should be, and use normal tires.

You could also do the same thing with some 19.5" P30 van wheels, but tires are going to on the expensive side.
