Base model side marker orientation
Hello, I just placed an order with LMC and it included my base model solid side marker. This may sound stupid but I was wondering which way they are supposed to be turned. If anyone could post pics of which way they should be turned it would be awesome, thanks.

On the side marker reflectors, there's a large cell [2''x2''] with a hole on the reverse side for a 168 bulb. The large cell goes in front on the forward markers, and toward the back on the rear fenders. Model Year '68s didn't have any wiring or bulbs - strictly reflectors only. The original ones had no hole for the peanut bulb. They don't make this part anymore. Some '68s have since been wired up and illuminated, but this isn't period correct.

Based on pictures when my '69 was new, it appears that the ends with the reflector (largest portion) go toward the middle of the truck sides.

Thanks a lot for the replies guys. I knew that they originally just reflectors, it’s ridiculous that they don’t sell them. I went ahead and wired mine up though, really just for higher visibility when it’s dark. Can’t be too safe these days.

Let's see if I have a pic of the Side Marker in my files...
OK. Not the greatest pix. In both cases the reflector 'pops' because it's a flash pic. The rear lens on the blue '71 Jimmy is not turned on and there is no bulb or circuit on the orange '68 C/10. I once thought of wiring the reflectors on my '68, but didn't want to hack the wiring harness. On the '71 GMC Jimmy, it came with the Deluxe markers, but I like the brighter Chevy Standard markers, so I switched them out -- matching my '68 C/10 Stepside. The old Deluxes are sported on my longbed 1/2-truck trash trailer.

Thanks for the pics. And I just used scotchloks to do mine into the park lights up front and the tail lights in the back. Using scotchloks the only real damage is a small bare spot on the wire if you take it back off.
