Grill hardware clipnuts

I'm asking the wrong question on Google. I cannot find the clip nuts that mount the grill to the lower air dam. They go into the indents.

Where do you get them?

Thanks

Re: Grill hardware clipnuts

There are some in this grill hardare pack but I don't know if that is where they go. The vague descrption doesn't help https://www.classicparts.com/1947-53...ctinfo/61-921/

Now I have to go out an look as I can't remember if they are one of the clip nuts intended for a hex head sheet metal screw or one with threads. If you have a sample I think you can find a suitable substitute in those pull out boxes over the nuts and bolts at Ace or at Fastenal if your local store sells to individuals.

They may be listed as spring nuts

Re: Grill hardware clipnuts

I went out and popped one off a grill and this is what is on that one.

The screw driver bit is off a Craftsman 1/8 tip screw driver.
I'm not sure what size the clips actually are but You will be wanting to match the clips to the screws anyhow.

My helper decided she wanted to see what I was doing.

Re: Grill hardware clipnuts

It seems they are called clip on nuts. Here is a link that will get you in the right section. They have a wide variety.

Re: Grill hardware clipnuts

The grill I have out back looks to have 1/4 inch hex head sheet metal screws and the clips. The screws take a 7/16 wrench.

Re: Grill hardware clipnuts

Let us know what comes in that kit, These days a couple of gallons of gas to run up to the store that has all of those pieces plus the price of the the pieces from the store gets right to the cost of the kit pretty quick.

Re: Grill hardware clipnuts

Mr48, Classic Parts Grill Assembly Hardware kit came with 60 pop rivets, 20 clipnuts, washers and screws to attach to the fenders etc. on the front and 22 smaller clipnuts and screws to put the cross pieces onto the uprights of a grill that has been dissambled.

Thank you for all your help over the years.
