Hey Burt, I have never been to Pismo before I mostly go to Ocotillo, Azusa or local hills close to me off the 15fwy in El Cajon pass. I have herd many good stories and seen many pics and would really like to check it out in the hot months. I've also herd that its alot smaller than it used to be and its tough to get a spot, would you have any info. that may help me on getting a spot to camp and do some Wheelin' over a weekend?

Like your K5 really looks and sounds like a blast!

Thanks!

Sweeeeeet pix Burt!! There's big sand dunes about 100 miles from here in Moses Lake Washington thats really popular, I've just never done it. It looks like a totally different experience from mud & trails. :metal:

So, when are you going to convince to wife to move up here? Houses are cheap right now!

Wide-Open-Throttle is the key in sand :metal: hehe

I am working on the wife, she is ready to go "somewere" that is for sure. The kids in school is our biggest ancor right now... your neck of the woods is on our list as must see!

Moses Hole! I have a buddy I used to work with that got pretty much ran over on his bike (had the flag and all) by some jack in a Toyota, he got pinned underneath, the radiator hose ruptured all over him, it was quite a mess, skin grafts and all, I can't recall but I think there were some back issues too.

Its a shame my truck is all busted up as I have a Spring League Football game at West Valley High School in Spokane this Saturday and your ORV Park looks like fun!

The open sand camping is first come, basically you drive on the beach until you get to the "open" area. from there you can camp anyware. Some take the beach al the way to the end. We camp in the middle around pole # 5. The poles are numbered as you go towards the end.
Ya, The area is shrinking because of the greenies trying to save a ground nesting bird so alot of the back dunes are closed. It's still fairly large, large enough to get lost at night hahahaa
I recomend getting a camping reservation at http://www.reserveamerica.com/
Any of the big weekends you will need to buy months in advance as they only alow so many campers on the dunes per night. There are RV parks out on the pavement too but you cannot drive offroad viehicals from the RV park to the dunes so camping on the sand is the only way to doit with quads or whatever..
The offical name is Oceano Dunes SVRA

My buddy took thease and he missed the "action" shot. If you look at the first pic and look at my approch to the little bunny hill = no tire tracks. Then the second pic behind me you see the tracks. Well that is the Pismo Bump = approch said bump + floor it as soon as the front axel touches = Front end off the ground and hood pointing skyward :metal::metal:
But obviously the action shot was missed by just a second :waah:

full size chevy on fordyce...ftw??
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j7...e/DSCF1210.jpg
The View from the top of the mountain... Always gotta stop here and let the adrenalin settle.. take in the scenery and shoot the sh1t with fellow friends of fordyce...
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j7...e/DSCF1213.jpg
http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j7...e/DSCF1212.jpg
We took eagle lakes road to fordyce creek trail from hiway 80 just below sysco grove. And last but not least, the rig we went with. This little yota did better than I thought it would up there, with IFS I was pretty sure I was gonna see him lay it over. He managed to get quite a bit of flex out of it.. the chopped bed helps.http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j7...e/DSCF1214.jpg
The season is young, plenty more action to come... There is much more video of this trip than pictures, I will be sure to post when I get a chance..

Our local 4x4 club held it's 30th Annual event a few weeks ago. The Birken 4XFun consists of a Road Rally, Hill Climb and Mud Bog on the Saturday, with an All Terrain Course and Powder Puff (AKA "the No Riggin' race; if you got a riggin', you can't race" ;) ) on the Sunday. Points are tallied up for each event, with the Overall winner getting a set of tires of their choice from our local tire shop.
Here's a few pics of my old S-15 in the A/T Course that I gave to a customer of mine. Of course being a crazy kid, he had to have a 496 BBC and 1T running gear S-15 (S-3500?). Somehow, I got tricked into sponsoring him and built the body; flared the fenders and gutted the cab and box, tilt front end. Still needs paint but, that don't slow him down any.

GruntMoanCough 07-10-2009 02:36 PM

Re: 4X4 Action Pix

Yeah, it's currently all leaf sprung but, the owner has a 4 link designed for it.

Very happy to see this thread return as a sticky! Even more so as its getting real close to the wet, rainy, 4x4 season!

onlyifihadachevy 09-02-2009 08:36 PM

Re: 4X4 Action Pix

I cannot wait till it starts raining around here, that trail will be a lot harder, and I will have a roll cage, so i can push it more.
