Re: project 62
Well no progress pics on the truck unfortunatly but figured i would post this. My dad was headed to work about 1:45AM on friday when he noticed two high beams headed toward him at a high rate of speed, he jerked the wheel to the left but it was too late. He got hit in the right rear part of the bed by a County Sheriff that was headed to a call with no lights on and in the Northbound 2 lane highway headed South... Thank God it didn't kill him that night! The truck rolled 3 times before landing back on its wheels. He just had a bad bruised shoulder and some scratches and wasnt wearing his seatbelt.

Re: project 62
Man that's crazy, glad your dad made it thru without any major injuries. Did the deputy loose control or was he drunk.
|
Re: project 62
Daaaaannnggg! Your Dad was unlucky by being in the wrong place at the right time but EXTREMELY lucky to have survived, for the most part, unscathed.
So what was the reason for the sheriff going the wrong way at a high rate of speed? |

Best of wishes to everyone. |
Re: project 62
Thanks guys yeah im glad too!
Yeah you know if you or I would have done that we would still be in jail for it... I have a feeling its going to be a long fight over this, just hope he doesnt get screwed over in the deal. |
Re: project 62
WOW!
Glad to hear that your dad's ok. If he's the litigious type- he could be well on his way to having a new truck for each day of the week. |

Re: project 62
Scott,
Glad your Dad and the deputy are okay. Could have been a whole lot worse. Tell your dad to get someone to represent him and not try to handle this on his own.... |
Re: project 62
Thanks David, Yeah he has a meeting today with a lawyer so we'll see how that goes.

Re: project 62
Hopefully the po po doesn't try to sweep it under the carpet. I hit an officer going 70+mph through a red light in a low visibility intersection. I was going the speed limit (35). My vehicle moved about about 15 ft after the impact, and his was 200+ feet down the road. Because his lights were on, I was found at fault. It did not matter that he never slowed down, or that the intersection was at the top of a hill, so I could not see him until he entered it.
I would find out if the officer had a dash cam, and request a copy of the footage. |

She was completely at fault and admitted to it to all the officers on the scene they have everything in the police report about it too, she had been on duty for more than 18 hrs they blame her for being fatigued and just not paying attention. Luckily a lady and her husband were behind my dad and saw the whole thing and are willing to go to court for him if possible. What sucks though is his shoulder is still hurting him really bad. I have a feeling he will get screwed over most of the way through this but id like to hope not. |
Re: project 62
Figure out how to make it public. Call a news station and get them to do a story. Community pressure is a beast.
|
Re: project 62
News station would put the heat on the Sherriff to do something!!

Re: project 62
Keep the pressure on them. For my accident they gave me this whole speech how they would do this huge investigation and an accident computer simulation to determine the fault. When it was all said and done the police report was less then a half page and basically said his light where on and therefore it was my fault.

I know what you mean, I haven,t worked on my 59 in about 8 months. I worked out of town from October to March (Vegas it was nice). Then with all my overtime money I decided to Procharge my Corvette. Now I bought a 60 Chevy shop truck. And of course i can't leave things alone. I'll be getting back on it as the weather gets a little cooler.

It's easier to find things if they are scattered around instead of all being stacked on top of each other in one place!
