Scott,
Wouldn't it need to be out of a 99 or later? since the 5.3 debuted on the 99 silverado. Let me guess you have a line on a smoking deal?

Ya i thought so too. I think the hardest part is going to be finding a harness..

jwalk 11-27-2010 01:20 PM

Re: project 62

Sounds like a hell of a deal!!! Being a 08 it could be an aluminum block..... Which is sweet! I know someone that has a harness.;) not forsure yet if I'll use it or not. Still leaning towards carb rated. Does it have an intake?

Let me know if you dont use it! Yeah it has an intake and even the cover on the top, injectors and all. the owner said it burned some oil but i have heard of these engines doing that if something goes out and i cant remember what the "something" is

Worst case ill pull it all apart and re bearing and ring it and call it good and we'll see if it burns any more oil or not..

That's awesome man! I'm pretty sure we can come up with a harness somewhere with all the connections on this board. That is going to be sweetness, and for only $250. :jdp:

I hope.. just wonder what a throttle body is going to cost me

Need a few sensors and some bolts, with there was a salvage around like pullapart that had these and not ones that just sold complete.

A friend had this LS in his garage and I bought it with the intent of putting it in one of two vehicles (still thinking about that '63 Pontiac). This is an '02 Firebird 5.7, with the 4L60E, and 40,000 miles. It came with the wiring harness, computer, a set of motor mounts, new plugs, the harness had a couple of ends replaced. I think I also have a set of factory exhaust manifolds. Can't decide what to do with it now!

I ended up with a different truck. Current truck power is in the form of a 5.3 with a 4L60E, cam and head work, around 400 hp. Runs nice!

If you decide against it, think over a price ;)
