Re: Ididit column vs stock
All other BS aside, I bought the bare steel floor shift IDIDIT tilt column... I didn't want the hassle of finding a DECENT on that would still need some work and then the pain of sanding it down, and, and,and...
IDIDIT tells you right on their site that they use alot of refurbed parts on their columns...I don't care...the have a gret reputation for quality and all the hassle it saved my was worth the $300 I paid..Plus it comes with the billet dress up kit. I like the look of the painted column anyhow so it worked out that the one that worked bes for me was the cheapest one ... |
Re: Ididit column vs stock
Wow, there sure is a lot of money being poured into these trucks. :) I picked up a tilt column from a mid 70's GM van in the boneyard for 50 bucks about 8 yrs ago. A couple hours to modify (ie. make it fit) and install was all it took.

Re: Ididit column vs stock
:agree: I have two truck tilts (got yet another one out of a jy and sold it) and just scored a van tilt with the cruise button I needed. I have NO problem with it being sloppy, rag joint or no. I have no problems with upgrading anything, but if it ain't broke why fix it, and in my opinion looks better too.
***Disclaimer*** This is all my opinion and not meant to stir anything up.;) |

Re: Ididit column vs stock
PS - talk to member PICKMUP, $649 sounds awful expensive. See what kinda prices he's got. I know the ones with the column shift are more pricey, but ... $649 sounds way too pricey.

Re: Ididit column vs stock
Send me a PM and I will give you much better prices on the ones I still have "in stock". I still have a couple. New replacements will cost me more as price increases are showing up from all manufacturers on metal & plastic parts.
I have a lot of these built and have some really good prices. |
Re: Ididit column vs stock
Good timming as I was just thinking I need to get my column in order for mock up. My question is what are you guys doing for auto column trany linkage. I am running a 700R4 AOD and want a cable type set up if it is out their. My 3/4 length headers and 3" exhaust get in the way of teh stock rod set up. Also what about the shift indicator for AOD's? Right now I have a van tilt that when last used (7yrs ago ) worked fine but I am not set on using it. But I do want a painted column not polished.
Any cable linkage kits out their? Thanks Kevin LFD Inc. |

Thanks Kevin EDIT~~ I went to their site and they also have a solid rod set up that might work as well for our trucks and their shift indicators are all LED type. I want to find a column mount that looks stock but has all 4 forward gears. |
Re: Ididit column vs stock
I love Lokar products. Everything I've ever bought from them was nothing but top quality. I can't comment on that product shove, but I have no doubt that it is kickass.

Digging up an old thread....

I have Lokar's solid rod setup. Its works, but I still haven't got it adjusted where the trans detents are the same as the ones in the column. I might try the cable setup next, or just buy a floor shifter.... |
