My '73 400 only had a flat tappet cam, performer intake and carb and made around 300hp and 413ft-lbs. with no headers.Vortecs didn't make that. I think the extra 50 cubes can make up for the vortec heads on a 350. Mainly if he got rid of the smog cam, he's way ahead. Heads and roller cams don't matter much if they're just the OE junk anyway.
