Oh don't be mistaken, I had to gather my pennies for a WHILE to get one!

I figure the car 4spds are every bit as strong as a 3spd and the gearing is better for a truck. That said,I never thought of a 3spd as being much of a truck transmission.

Re: Muncie 4-speed

If you are putting any good power to a car style 4 speed in your truck, stick with the muncie. I had a saginaw 4 spd in my 67 with a small block, worked awesome... put a big block in the truck and we'll just say the bottom 1/3 of the transmission ended up on the street pretty quickly. Muncie works great in exchange.

For you muncie experts. I got a M-22 for my 69 c10. What do I need to do with my clutch fork and linkages? Do I leave them stock or do I need to switch to a car set up? What did you guys use? This is really holding me up. Thanks guys!

I used the stock linkage and clutch fork. I got a clutch and TO bearing from a 78 trans am. I believe I got a 10.5" clutch.

Re: Muncie 4-speed

me no expert but you don't need to do anything about clutch forks or linkage. only make sure the disk matches the input shaft of the transmission. that and maybe the yoke.

I am also a part of the M-22 club. I went from a 250 to a BBC and had to do a little fab work to get the angles the way I wanted them. I had to relocated the bell crank just a little farther down the frame rail. Just recently upgraded to a 12" Centerforce DF clutch and that thing rocks!!! Best clutch I have used yet. If you have an 11" flywheel, the 12" dual friction clutch will work with all stock hardware.

Re: Muncie 4-speed

Ditto on the 12" Centerforce DF clutch! It's a beast :sumo: I'm using one in my TKO.

I don't have a Muncie trans, but I did use a '621' magnesium bellhousing from a Muncie 4spd for my TKO.

Re: Muncie 4-speed

I bought a Centerforce Dual Friction one time...and haven`t bought anything else since.I got a new stock replacement clutch with my transmission.I`ll use that to get`er goin`.In better times I`d set that stock clutch aside and have a Centerorce in there, for sure.

I have an M-21, bolted right up with no issues. I got the Hurst Comp + shifter and used the alum camaro belhousing just to save the weight. Used the truck fork and release bearing (which was the same as the truck, bearing that is). All hooked up just fine. Good luck

Are you kidding me? With a muncie 4-speed? WHY???? That's cool as hell though.

If you plan on running slicks at the track, don't use a dual friction.

did any of you guys have to shorted your driveshaft when you switched from a 3 speed to a super t10?

Well Im part of the way there...threw a nice donor 12bolt with 3.73's under the truck a month or two ago. It's fun but it's a 45 mph truck now! I still have my th350 w/ shift kit...smokes first, BARKS second and then there's third pulling around 2700 at 45mph. Yikes! I cannot afford a M22 so I will go the 700r route. Rebuild a used 700r, New yoke, shorten the driveshaft and done. Does anyone know what year 700r I need to look for (non-electrical). Pre 87??
Thanks

I don't think Jim has been on the board since July. The post you quoted is from 2009.

The super T-10 is a tad longer, than a Muncie (M20/21/22), or the orig 3spd. Its about 3/4 " IIRC, but you can check the Richmond site to verify this. Best of fun, crazyL

Thanks Charles, they are 15x10 western wheel turbines that I painted to look like the 70's vette wheels. they were on this truck when I bought it 5 yrs ago...one of my favorite things!

Re: Muncie 4-speed
