no I want to by one from him,but would like to do a test fit on cad first. If its going to fit and work the CAD program will show me first.

Re: Less costly front suspension

So you do want him to give you his design. Gotcha.

Re: Less costly front suspension

What suspension design/analyzer do you intend to use?

Do you have the proper knowledge on suspension design/geometry/kinematics to offer an "engineered" product that has been proven both on paper and in real life?

Are you ready to buy that big insurance policy?

Please don't take this in the wrong light, as I admire the ambition, but there is a lot to think about when intending to market and produce a product like this. These are just a few of countless, important questions that will arise. It's a lot more involved than just cutting and welding a crossmember together. I am sure you have thought of some of these things already. Again, good luck in the venture, and I admire your drive... that's how it all strated for me.

porterbuilt is right, there is a lot involved,I like to do things myself,All I said was if I buy the new part I would feel safe if I saw how it was going together.I have worked on cars for 40 yr's.And my CAD skills are just fine.I worked on the re design of Santa Monica blvd.I have helped the engineers with bridges, worked with the design of all the high pressure gas piping in s-calif.I did not mean to step on anyones toes, just said before I buy A new un-proven style front end it would be nice if I could look at it first.

scooterskoolkustoms- I don't think Shane was questioning your knowledge or intentions. Think about what your asking though. You want him to share his CAD file with a stranger so you can verify the design integrity? If you had designed a product with the intentions of possibly marketing it, would you do that?

I'm thinking probably not, unless you were sending that proposed product to a licensed lab for design integrity analysis.

Re: Less costly front suspension

I wont be sending a cad file out only because I don't want someone building something that hasn't been tested. I'm not in this for the money so after I have tested it and made sure every thing works properly I will be happy to send a cad file, just not until I know for sure that this is a safe product. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be I just don't want to take the chance. If its going to kill some one it will be me.

I like it already. Not enough competition in this marketplace if you ask me, but that's probably because there's not enough demand.

I recently got my dropmember from Nathan and there is allot to it. All the fasteners and machined pieces are crazy. I think it's a smokin deal considering what's involved. Keep up the good work Nathan!

Re: Less costly front suspension

Yes his is a great deal for what you get. If mine works it will be no where near as "fancy" few if any machined parts.

I use the Bill Mitchell WinGeo software for suspension analysis.

Well this is taking much longer than I had planned. Some how the metal place got st. Louis Missouri mixed up with Temple Georgia and that has taken 3 weeks to get fixed. The metal finally left this morning headed to the correct state but I am having similar issues getting my gas bottle filled, seems like everyone in georgia is out of 75/25

Any updates?

Find a good local place that refills... not someone that sends their tanks to get refilled.

Re: Less costly front suspension

Yes I have mine just about done but there is so much work and time involved there is no way I could produce them for other people in a timely manner and keep my full time job.

pics? Just wondering what it looks like. Im really thinking of cutting my crossmember for now.

I have to pull it back out Thursday to finish welding and make a few adjustments, Ill try to get some pics. I still need to get the notch for the rack done and the bag mounts.

I wouldn't run a mustang 2 kit on anything that's not a straight axle even then id still pass on it.I have drove a few cars with them and didn't like the ride or handling.Anyone can make a crossmember like Nate's but the welds he lays down and all the time spent designing it so it don't ride bad or handle bad takes time trial and error. If i wanted my truck to lay frame he would be the first person I'd call.

Project got side tracked for a week or two while I try to get my cam installed and motor back running.

I am only 20 min. down the road in Yorkville.I would love to check it out and maybe have one built for my 66.PM me and lets see if we can get together.

Trial and error is the method that the Russians used to get into space. They would build rockets, strap a dog or person into it, and see if it worked. If not, they needed a new astonaut.

Real engineers shoot for trial and success! Front end geometry is well-defined, and with modern engineering tools the design should be right both on paper and on the truck.
