As I mentioned, the rewire you are looking at does not include any fan relays or any extras from what I can tell. Its the bare minimum. Our Base series that has the same options as that rewire starts at $500 or $550 depending on throttle type. Bill |

So I'm leaning the BP way at this point. This is my first LS Swap. What are you guys doing as far as wiring the fuel pump in and the charging system?

Re: All harnesses are NOT created equal.
Hey Bill,
Are you set up with the diagrams and layouts to build an 8.1L as well? I get tons of inquiries on everything 8.1L related where people are looking for harnesses, which I’ve always used Howell Engine Development for my projects and sent people their way but as of late I am beyond frustrated with working with Troy over there and have no plans to use their services again nor will I send them any more business. So with that, I’m looking for a good harness source to point people. We also have growing number of people joining our Facebook page called the “8.1 Info Swap Classifieds”. Stand-alone harnesses are always a big topic. Might be a nice little niche group of swappers to get involved with. The nice thing with the 8.1L is they are pretty consistent from 2001-2010 in terms of wiring, connectors, ECM, etc. unlike the more popular Gen III and Gen IV small blocks where there are several different variations. |
Re: All harnesses are NOT created equal.
Hi Bill. I am interested in your DIY REWIRE kit. I did an LT1 swap years ago using factory service manual and just transferred everything from donor vehicle. This go round I am swapping a '03 LQ4 6.0 from an Express van into my 72 C-10. I want to eliminate all emissions, and only use one set of O2 sensors. No A/C, but want fan control. My question is related to reprogramming the computer and wire pin outs. I found some schematics on line that seem to jive with my harness, but there are a couple of circuits that are different. Does your kit give any instructions on what pins to use? I assume that the reprogramming will change some of the pin outs? Would your kit require use of your reprogramming service to be compatible?
Thanks Paul |
Re: All harnesses are NOT created equal.
Just want to say my harness came back flawless and dummy proof. Spectacular job Bill. Thank you.
P.S. - I need to send you back my PCM, I went with a different gear ratio than what I originally told you. |
