Re: project 62
Well i got a huge set back... http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...827_170319.jpg
Turns out this is a Gen IV AFM engine. AFM...Active Fuel Management. (Can shut oil off on certain lifters to kill cylinders). and you cant make a stand alone harness for them and nothing will work, so ill have to find another.... super yay, not thrilled  |
Re: project 62
Well that sucks. At least the motor mounts are ready to plop one in though.
|
Re: project 62
Yeah but really sucks though.. not sure what im going to do with it now. Boat weight
|
Re: project 62

|
Re: project 62
Ouch!! Look at it this way, your lesson learned could really help someone here. ;)
|
Re: project 62
Oh man, I never knew that about those engines. Hope you can swap it for one that will work for you.

Re: project 62
What year did GM start producing that type engine?
|
Re: project 62
Gen III production started in 1997 as an RPO LS1 for the Corvette. :metal::metal::metal:

Re: project 62
Sorry, I thought you were referring to the Gen III engines, in general. GM actually introduced AFM in the 1981 Cadillacs. There was a "redesign" to the LS engine platform in 2004 and, in 2005, AFM was an option with the 5.7 Vortec engine as well as the LS engine family. :chevy:
|
Re: project 62
Its a crappy design now that i have one by mistake
|
Re: project 62
I wish my 6.0 Truck had that engine. It would give better mileage. Why not keep the stock harness? Or did I miss something? :uhmk:

Re: project 62

Its takes a special harness and computer to run it, will be cheaper and less of a headache to just go the normal route. |
Re: project 62
Put a carburetor on it. :mm::lol:

Re: project 62
