Thanks, George. Not much time for the old truck lately, though. I guess when I have some time, I will at least have a dollar or two.

Can't wait till I can drive the old girl around like you do. I should have fixed what I needed to and do the rest when I could. But, it is coming alone as well as it can. Being 65 and retired is not what it is cracked up to be.

Haha, thanks for stopping by, George. I have been slammed at work. I am going to try to get your gift ready to ship tomorrow.

When I swapped in the v-8, I put in the correct engine perches which moved the engine forward, which meant I had to move the member forward to the next set of holes (about 3 inches). Since the holes were already there, it was pretty easy, except for the cab being kinda in the way. Some people put the v8 in the 6 cylinder perches, which is doable, because the mounts are the same, but it makes your distributor REAL close to the firewall, which can be trouble later. My rearend is the stock 12 bolt out of a 72 model with an auto trans, and it has 3.08 gears. I plan to add a locker this winter. My driveshaft was too short after everything moved forward, so I had a new one built.

did you originally intend on orange and black camo? i think it looks sweet!!!

It's actually supposed to be a fake patina or "fauxtina". There are a few threads on it here on the board. The way the pics always look on the computer make it look like that orange camo. There are actually several different layers of color exposed in different areas. It is supposed to kind of look like those trucks you see with the really worn down paint. The thing is, that it won't really ever look like its been in a field for 40 years unless it has been. It is orange on top, and black underneath because the front clips and beds were mostly done in black primer at the factory. If you could see it a kittle better, you could see there is some red oxide exposed in places on the cab because the cabs were usually primed in red. It is just supposed to look like the paint is wearing off. I at first painted the truck flat black to cover the purple it was when I got it. I spent so much money on the mechanical parts of the truck, there is no budget for paint just yet. My buddy Rus (Rusbuilt) showed me a little about the fauxtina, so I decided to try it for fun. I knew it wasn't gonna look really authentic, so I just had fun with it. I actually even buffed an waxed it. I like it, and it gets TONS of attention at all the places I have taken it so far!

Man, I ain't typed this much since term papers! lol. Ask whatever you want to know, man. That's why I put all this stuff up here. I hope I can keep someone from learning some of the lessons the hard way, like I did, lol.

seriously cool paint ideas on here, fauxtina is new to me. i love your bed, stop sign in the back, it really brings out the style you are trying to represent. good job man:chevy:

Well, fellas, didn't win the contest, but got 2nd place. I'm pretty happy about that. I really appreciate all of y'all voting for me. I wonder what the story is on that truck that won. That guy C10 King has lots of trucks. Does anyone know if he builds them or buys them? I was just curious, and if you ask that out on the open forum, some people take it wrong. Either way, that is one sharp truck he has.

It's hard to keep Matt and I out of magazines. We're centerfold material, not because we're attractive, but we cover both pages.

Hey Matt:
You know working hard will make a old man out of you, Just look at me. I worked hard all my life. Never stopped and made time for the good things, like family and friends. So my friend take it easy and smell the flowers and thank God for what you have. Good luck with your build. George

Nice work! Wish we had the inner fenders off when we designed those headers. Nice to see how they fit.
