Back when I first got the 55 I redid the complete brake system. This is some parts that are missing. I can't remember who emailed me this pic of what he had, but I didn't buy it at the time. I could make the flat bar portion if needed. I was wondering if someone had this complete set up to sale.

I sent ya the pic, umm Last year I believe..........

Too funny I was going to say since your tinkering with the 55 you'll need to start a thread, and bam you already did. It's also funny that your doing what I was trting to do on my 64 bend a new fuel line. Mine came up about 2" short. I'll have to give it another try. I've got a straight 292 in mine. Thinking about just keeping it. Runs good.;) Love the looks of the 55. I need another truck.

Thanks Dave, been really busy. You got a few extra hours in the day you could give me. 24's not enough.

Here is what the filter option looks like. There are two fittings one in the bottom that returns to a port in the pan rail that drains into the pan. The other is high on the side and goes to a port towards the back and farther up on the block that is a pressure feed. There are also aftermarket types that allow use of a spin on filter.

Gotta say I have never seen one and if I did I didn't know what it was. Thanks for posting the pic

The electron is broke and so am I.

Yeah this truck got put on the back burner.:smoke: I need to finish the fuel lines then try to fire it up again. The fuel line i replaced from the pump to the carb was nasty inside. I don't want to try to start it til I get all of the lines replaced and tank cleaned.

Re: Look what I found

I know it's been answered before but the 55 2nd series was the 1st year for the 12 volt system. I read somewhere that the 12v generators had a red tag rivited on them and the 6v had a black one.
As for the engine swap I don't know if it was answered yet but to put a V8 in you'll have to change the bell housing as the 235 and earlier 6s had a totally different bolt pattern. They accually wraped around the flywheel. I am assuming of course that the truck 3 speed bolts up the same as the 4 speeds. I'm not familer with truck 3 spd I do know the car 3 spd (atleast in 51) had a totally different bellhousing to trans bolt pattern.
That's alot of rambling but hopefully it's helpful.

Thanks for the info. I'll check for the tag on the gen/alt

Not a whole lot going on. Picked up a battery box from Tim Christian at Moultrie swap meet and painted it.

Me neither. I've had this project for over 2 years and you can see how far it has gotten. ;)

I was going to put the battery box on the shelf, then I said to my self why not ad $5000 value to the truck by bolting it on. Kind of sticks out like a sore thumb. But it is better than what was there.

Nice truck. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's projects are years old with little hope of seeing the sun!

I'd run the I6 for as long as possible! No sense in leaving it sit for another 2 years for an engine swap...I'm at many more than that now!!

Anyway, your generator should say 12V on it. Red tag should be 12V. It isn't going to charge at low speed like an alternator will so idle doesn't help, you need to drive it to keep charge flowing.

And in answer to your very first question, no that truck is not desirable. You should give me your address and leave it by the curb. I'll come fetch it to relieve your pain! It is still light years ahead of my truck...

I hope to get it in the shop soon to see if I can get it running.

Still need to check the alt tag.

It was junk. It sad, the guy should have sold it 15 years ago, before it rusted to nothing. Can't believe he wanted 650. I really would'nt have given him 50.:waah: The area was full of old trucks though. The search continues.:uhmk:

Finally had a great weather day on a saturday. Got the 55 "Mater" as the kids call it in the shop and cleaned out the bed for the first time since I've had it. Thanks to Shannon for the help moving it. How did you like the "armstrong steering"?

Would these wheels be worth anything to anyone or they just junk?

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...r/DSC02097.jpg

Took the gas tank out and the aftermarket bed floor.

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...r/DSC02096.jpg

Nice flow thru bed floor.

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...r/DSC02098.jpg

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...r/DSC02099.jpg

I picked up a good used OE tank shortly after I got the truck. I plan on getting it in and plumbed with new line.

I love the tag... I would keep the wheels and use them for hose reels and extension cord reels if all else fails

Re: Look what I found

I actually sold off my 8 lug wheels from my '51 for $100. Anything is better than nothing; it's just finding the guy that wants them is the hard part. I sat on my wheels for a long time.
Did you have to push it in? I thought that you had it running. Regardless, I'm glad to see that 'Matter' has a warm place to sleep now.

britnjc, that is a good idea for the wheels though. I just got a set that I was hoping to be able to use on my '71, but they are a couple years early for me to be able to use them. The back spacin is wrong. Now I know what I could use them for if no one else wants 'em.

Great to see you working on it.:metal: Still looking for a 50. The rust bucket sold for 300.
