I've been there Matt, but it's whatever you think is best for your family.

I am totally undecided, but in no hurry.

Just read through your build. Good looking truck.

It cool seeing local guys getting together to help one another with their projects. Makes me wish I still lived in Murfreesboro.

I am sorry to hear that you are selling you ride. But, the family comes first. There is always another truck own the road. Probably not like the one you have now. But, I will kee you in my thoughts and prayers on the topic. Good luck and God Bless.

Re: Cubber's Build Thread

I haven't decided to sell it for sure. I really want to keep it. I have sold a ton of stuff in a hurry in the past, and regretted it later. I have far more time in this truck than in any of the other things. My main goal is to not sell it on impulse, then regret later. Slow down....

Glad to hear that Matt. Take your time and only do it if necessary.

I kept my ole pickup through a lot of rough times. Some out of necessity and others out of just because. I bought my truck moons ago and honestly I'm glad I kept it. I considered selling it but never did. When we got into our house I was glad I kept the old pick it up. But you have to do what you need to do. Just make wise decisions....

Thanks for the tip. I have decided to keep the truck, and sell only (like you said) if there is a real emergency. It would have to be a BIG one, too. Forget money. I have way too much blood, sweat, tears, and late nights invested. There are some guys on here like Rusbuilt, thelonerife, and JRANGER who do too. When my Pa died, I worked out some feelings while I sanded some paint on it. When I lost my job, I went for a ride in it. When I get to feeling low, I go out to my shop and just look at it sometimes. Something about it being there just does my heart good. When I actually thought about selling it, I got kinda sick to my stomach. The house deal is working itself out just fine, like most things do, eventually. I did end up selling my '06 crew cab, but those are easy to find. Plus I bought a little cheap 4x4 to keep just as an all purpose truck, and I am havin' a blast with it.

BOTTOM LINE IS THE TRUCK STAYS..:chevy:

I miss it a little. It looked sweet after I put that drop shackle on it. A buddy of mine that I worked with at the water dept. bought it.

I head you man. When life get me down I go out to te shop and work on my truck. It seems that I do alot of work lately. Life is not always a bed of roses. These boys of mine keep me in a straight line though.

Not too much. Been busy with work and new house stuff. I am looking into a deal on a 700R4 trans, though.

700r4 woohoo!!!

Saaweeeeeet....700R4

Hope the house stuff don't dive into your "truck bucks" I got stuck with a "bathroom Honey-Do" bathroom remodel over Christmas.

Can't wait to see an update with the 700R4

Yeah, I'm waiting to see if I can verify the quality or not. I was thinking about going with your guy, but this one will be cheaper, but I am planning to be REAL careful about the verification. I'd hate to end up with a high dollar core.

Thanks, Bomp! I am holding tight to the truck bucks so far. Just waiting to be sure I don't need 'em.

Re: Cubber's Build Thread

Thats what I am planning on doing later. Putting in a 700R4 transmission, is the 700r4 any longer than the th400. If so I will have to get another drive shaft. But this comes much later. I want to work out the bugs first.

5150 01-07-2014 11:52 PM

Re: Cubber's Build Thread

To install a 700r4 in you'll need to slide the crossmember back and have the driveshaft shortened 3 inches.

flashed 01-08-2014 08:20 PM

Re: Cubber's Build Thread

When you change to the 700R4 ,will you need to change rear end gears to keep it from lugging ,I did in our Chevelle but dont know with our trucks . Also will the speedo be off much ?

gdavis 01-09-2014 06:32 PM

Re: Cubber's Build Thread

I just got rid of a drive shaft that was 3'' shorter./ I should have keapt it. But who knows when I will ever get to do the 700r4 transmission. Only time will tell. As far as the cross member it will be in the same spot as a 6 cly then. What gears will I have to use with the 700R4 transmission swap. I'am thinking about gas milage.

cubber 01-13-2014 01:07 AM

Re: Cubber's Build Thread

I hear a lot of guys use the 3.73 gears with the 700r4

gdavis 01-16-2014 07:41 PM

Re: Cubber's Build Thread

I wounder how much difference the gas milage will be between 3.73 and a higher gear rear with a 700r4

I've heard thats the best with a 700R

5150 01-17-2014 10:33 AM

Re: Cubber's Build Thread

It is the bestfor a good mix of power and cruising speed. If you're looking for gas mileage then go with a 3.08. Just don't expect to be burning tires off the line.
