Re: How many still have stock tank in place?

Somewhere around 55 here. I was wondering if there was a way that we could put a bladder around the gas tank that would holdup to a crash like losthope's. I figure the main issue would be the filler neck pulling apart though.

59 for me. I have no plans to remove or modify it. With the price of gas here I like to hold it close to me. LOL

Mine makes 65, should have waited one more to be 66...
I plan to leave mine where it is. If I did go to an under bed tank I would leave the filler there. Wouldn't want to regret it later.

Let me again say WOW!! are you sure you you are mortal?

That hit should have done anyone in.

I stand corrected I have now seen a tank ruptured.

Even tho i pretend and tell the ol'lady that im a god, I am very much a mortal, I am very lucky and thankful im alive and have a whole new appreciation for life, and have changed many aspects of my life since the accident, I was badly injured from the crash, my pelvis was fractured in 5 places, face fractured once, and my ankle joint is shot, and i will forever have to live with a shattered heel, this past year ive been in a cast bed ridden, then cast on crutchs, then walking boot and crutchs, then learning to walk again with a ankle supported shoe and had to stop smoking cigs for a year to get my body healthy so i can have surgery,in the next few months ill be having my ankle joint fused together since it is shot, the doctor says ill be bed ridden again for 2-3 months, then on crutchs again for 2-3 months then, light walking for 2-3 months...so i am still living with the aftermath and most likely will forever...

I didnt mean to hi-jack the thread I just wanted to show that in a serious crash or being t-boned from the side of the cab it can be dangerous compared to outside of the cab especially if your trapped in side like i was...

On to the in cab gas tank count!

Make mine good ole 69.i have heard many reasons for keeping the original but what really surprised me is i never read the reasons that i enjoy it the in cab tank.first off i love to hear the fuel sloshing around when driving,i like it when i see the old fuel gauge moving around on a corner.these are the things that bring back memories when i was driving trucks when they were only a few years old and the reson i like them today.besides why change a good thing.

I saw photos... on this forum or another one of a truck like ours... was in a nasty drivers door collision.

The guy had a broken legs bones, arm bones... etc..

However, he pulled the tank out of the cab and sold it to someone else.

If the tank bursts, yer prolly dead already.

Only reason I see to move it, is for more storage or some crazy radio speaker setup.

That's just me tho'.

-W

p.s. mine is still in there... 9 years of driving it all over, no problems with the tank.

Thats exactly what I was going to say. I think in many ways, having it in the cab is a good thing. My 71 has a lot of rust, everywhere, but the gas tank is completely rust free.
