Re: what items did you find in your truck?

Hey Clint, this was back in the early 80's. I did have the long hair and I did partake in a few (or more) joints but I do remember that those items were NOT put there by me. However, I did claim them since they were in the truck I purchased. WAIT!..........what were we talking about? I've since quit about 21 years now, some of the brain cells have grown back. I wish the short term memory ones would make an appearance. Ok, back to truck finds.

I found a big flat head screwdriver, a funnel, a few pieces of hose, some dirty rags and a container of brake fluid all in the engine compartment. There is so much more room in these engine compartments than I am used to with newer cars.

In the cab I found a bunch of pennies, burnt matches, cigarette butts, and an invitation to the funeral of the po's mother. The cowl and the side vents were stuffed with rotten leaves and pine needles. In the tool box in the back of the truck there was rubber boots, 2 Q-jets, every lubricant used in the truck, nice pair of head light bezels, and one of those red cop lights that stick to the roof.

My green '68 was full of treasures.

Two sets of gaskets for a 235 or something like that.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y55...nsstuff002.jpg

A new fuel pump, complete with a receipt from '81 (I think). It looked like the guy installed the pump and then removed it and boxed it back up.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y55...nsstuff006.jpg

Wrapped up in a big piece of bedsheet, 6 or 7 V-belts of various sizes and age.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y55...nsstuff008.jpg

Some cassettes
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y55...nsstuff011.jpg

And a bada$$ working BB pistol
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y55...nsstuff012.jpg

I also found two copies of the build sheet. And the usual dirt, crud & rust.

Never found much the trucks I've picked up, but the 69 GS400 Buick we had a number of years ago, that's a totally different story. No parts or high dollar stuff, but old clothes, nasty ones. I'm the brave type. Worked in a prison for 16 years, but this scared me. cleaned it out with a coat hanger.

While tearing down my grandfathers truck I didn't find anything I hadn't discovered as a kid prowling though the truck. But after pulling the strait six and three speed, buried in the dirt and leaked oil on the motor crossmember, I found a 1967 dime. What is the odds of finding a 67 dime in a 67 chevy truck?I think it was a GM workers soda money.

I found papers to trace the truck threw four owners, a couple dollars "over twenty" in change, and over an inch of mud from the previous flood.
