Got the door and kick panels cut out today. Still need to figure how I'm going to cover them and the what arm rest to use. And mount the speaker in the kick panel.

I like the high mounted door speakers as I find your legs and the seat block the sound If mounted down low.

Re: 56 Mild Custom Build

A little update on some interior work.

Rebuilt the factory gauge cluster. Before and after shot
http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/...ps829018d4.jpg

Work done on the Kick panels and rear gas tank cover/speaker box
http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/...psd5504364.jpg
http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/...psdbfc8324.jpg

Here's a pick of the test box I made ( in about 5 minutes)for the front kick panel box. Since there's not alot of air space I have decided to port the front kick panels. I made the test box to find out what the best hz to tune the port to. And the speaker sounds really nice ported much deeper and more filling sound.

I got the a little update on the old pickup.

Getting interior together. Also sound deadened the whole cab. Still need to install the kick and door panels.

Got the windshield in and I did some more work on the "patina" of the truck. I couldn't tell you how many hours I have in the paint job and still working on it.
And here she is as she sits today with my two helpers :)

Can I ask what size tires you are running? Thanks

Re: 56 Mild Custom Build

i think you did the truck a lot of justice by working that patina finish a little more. Now it looks the way it should. Isn't it amazing how much time you can put into a paint job like this? Had you just left it blue, you could have spent all this other time and energy else where on the truck. But it's worth it.

Looks good buddy!!!

I've checked your build out numerous times. Man this thing looks good, I love the color and how you aged it. Your speaker boxes are coming out great. Can't wait to see all the kick and door panels done. Motor looks great too!!

I'm not sure how much we'll be seeing of him anymore. He sold this truck and picked up a 67 or 68 Camaro convertible project car.

Here's the kicker on the camaro, all original, numbers matching with a 250ci 6 cyl and a 3 speed on the column. They only made 5,250 camaro convertibles in 67 with a 6 cyl.

I don't think I ever saw a column shift pony car before and I grew up in that era. Neat project will you be keeping it stock?

Bob

I bought this car to build a pro touring monster but after doing some research on it and finding out how rare and unique the camaro is I've decided to keep it stock.

Cape Codder 01-10-2014 10:28 PM

Re: 56 Mild Custom Build

I bet you will enjoy driving it more stock even if you don't draw the attention a radical build would attract. Have fun with it.
