Awesome work here! Fantastic fab skills and bodywork. The fiberglass work is really cool too. The skully console is crazy man!

Peel some tape and paper tomorrow. Doin stripes along the side in white. Similar to the factory moulding.. follows the lower feature line and goes over the wheel wells, etc.. Not sure if i'm going to spray them or decal them yet. Opinions appreciated here. This truck is gettin some shop truck logos.. done to my wife's folks former implement dealership.

Humm, not sure about how a painted stripe would look. Will it be like the 67? Don't remember what year you have oif its a Chevy or GMC. Maybe go to the photo shop thread and ask someone to do a couple ideas?

Molberg 06-02-2014 10:16 AM

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build

Ya... A stripe similar to a '67 side moulding. My first car ('72 442) was black with a side stripe like this. Love the look of it. The truck started off as a '70 C10... Not sure what you'd call it now. Lol.

Paint turning out great :metal: Got an example of the stripe?

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build

I'd run it through ps but the pics available + the color make it difficult to mockup for a decent attempt.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build

Ya know the 67 is the only trim i like, Guess if it suits your desire then go for it. where i live trim is nothing but a rust promoter, humm, now ya got me thinking too LOL!.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build

I like the trim look for that year. Can't image how difficult it'd be to paint them but if you're confident and it's your truck.

Not sure whether to do paint or vinyl with the stripe...? Started color sanding the box today.. Not easy grinding the shine off fresh paint..(on the nerves like)

Thanks... Not perfect by any means. Painted in my garage. Some dust... And my usual one small fly. Lol. Color sanding should take care of most of it.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build

Shinning up nice :metal: When you said you wanted a 'stripe' instead of metal trim, do you mean 1 solid white stripe? I'll take one of your latest pics and retry. You get flies, I get spiders

Molberg 06-04-2014 10:53 PM

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build

Ya... a 1" solid white stripe that follows the same lines as the trim. Thanks litew8.

Thanks man! I didn't make it bleach white because the more I whitened it, the more hokey (fake) it looked.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build

It's perfect. Ive got it scratched up on paper... But that really gives a true visual and makes my decision. Stripes it is! Thanks again brother.

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build

might wanna google up 67 chevy c10 trim and look at some pictures to help you lay out and paint the stripe. :)

Re: Project NiteMare-1970 C10 LWB build

Not that it matters, but the stripe I placed is actually trim from a real truck pic.
I cut the trim off, distorted to align/fit and increased the brightness (from silver to more white). :chevy:
It isn't exact but did retain most of its shape.

Color sanding time.. didnt I would ever get to this point. My second windshield arrived. Yep. Second one. Broke the first one on install. Apparently the last one in Canada. This one came out of the states... commandeered some buddies with more experience with glass to help put this one in for me.

My thinking was that it could be a 2 tone stripe like the trim has a black center, and that he could do the layout in the same shape as some of the trim as its not all the same width.

Keep at it Molberg its looking great.

More updates... more color sanding. Really impressed with the 3M perfect-it setup so far. Second windshield installed.(in one piece this time) Took 3 of us close to an hour.. new gasket made it an ignorant a$$ of a job.

....and masked off some stripes. Think I settled on a style I'll like. 1.25" stripe, with a 1/4" stripe under it. Hood and gate getting stripes as well. (12" with 1/4" border stripe) Started scratchin some paint. Should get sprayed next week.

Thanks!... I recommend 3 guys if you can round em up. Had just 2 of us the first time. It was difficult keeping pressure on the lower edge while roping it in. Cowl hood likely played a big part in that.
