God that looks good. It shows you've been doing glass work for a while.
And btw, why don't ya go ahead and load up that big metal table of yours and give it to me. Man I need to get one of those!!! I really look forward to seeing this in one color. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: My 1952 truck.
Lol nice score on it regardless. I can't paint! I can do everything up to it though! Lol. After my pickup, I have way to many things I need to get done that aren't auto related its sick.
Top notch mister. Keep it up! You going to back to the 50s this year? You're a canook, so it shouldn't be that far of a drive right? Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: My 1952 truck.

NP at all. I wondered if my explanation would be confusing. I understand the finishing where the side pieces attach to the 3/8" rod but it's the front curved piece I'm curious about. It would be welded to the 3/8" rods from behind. How are you creating the radius transition from the rods to the front sheet metal piece? I hope I'm explaining it so you understand what I'm talking about. |

You mean this curve right? The plate is welded from behind and then finished with a tig on the outside. (I'm doing that later). It is really very easy to make one of these.

Yes that curve. The piece you added to the bottom of the stake pocket. I edited your picture to show you the area I curious about. The blue arrow pionts to the radius I am wondering how you filled it. Do you follow me? Any closer up pictures of that bottom curve?

Maybe this picture is clearer. The yellow arrow points to the area where I am wondering how you filled this in and radius it to match the factory contour.

Yes that is how I do it. Finish it with a tig and then use one if these with a carbide pointed bit. Makes short work of it. Then sand it with 220 after.

Re: My 1952 truck.
Thanks Wade. I appreciate it. If you had any more close up shots of that area kicking around on your pc, please post them. If not, no problem.

Re: My 1952 truck.
That Makita is one of my favourite tools. Lots of power. And great for fine grinding. I don't have any close ups, but I have not finished them totally yet. Have a bunch of tig work to do and I like to do it all at once.
