Hmm, I will try a random picture here.

Re: My 1952 truck.
Just read your build. Great lookin truck, glad your back at it. What are some specks on that motor (or did I miss that). Your CJ is real nice, I've had my 1967 CJ5 for almost 21 years, so much fun. Keep up the good work.

Re: My 1952 truck.
Thanks 99, I will preview all pics first.

Re: My 1952 truck.
Thanks lower50's. I built the engine to be a tough one. 383 Eagle stroker balanced rotating assembly, ARP fasteners throughout, 9.5:1 CR, 177 supercharger, AFR racing heads, Holley 950HP carburator, custom 1-7/8" headers built by me. Conservative estimate is 650hp. Once it is running I'm taking it to a chassis dyno to have engine and transmission dialed in. I have videos of it running on a test stand but can't get it to load on here. Something about missing security token.

Today I put in a cable hood latch.

Need to do a little work here. My truck has a hood from a 1 ton grain truck. Has more slope to the nose. So it is also a bit wider. Will need to widen the grille also. Fun fun.

I'm going to widen the from metal a smidge. I have it welded up but never had time for a picture. Will do tomorrow. Decided I am going to lower and sink my hydro boost into the firewall. I think.

I would like to put the support rods back in but AC unit is in the way and I'm not messing with that anymore. Will need to think of something.

Re: My 1952 truck.
looking stellar, I like the latch. Was debating on doing that too. Maybe on my next build.
I'm assuming you have repro parts there you have to fix??? not the only guy I'v seen having to do that. |

Yes they are Dynacorn fenders. Not too happy with them or the other panels.

Finishing up my rad cover today. The fit to the grille is awful. Had to add a fair amount of metal.

I'm happy with it. Needs a little filler but I wanted this fitting nice.
|
Re: My 1952 truck.
looking really good, good god Id be so mad to have to do all that work to make new panels work ($$). I guess there is just never an easy way to get one of these trucks done. new or old metal, lotta work.
|
Re: My 1952 truck.
Nice work. Wonder if the gaps / poor fit is due to variations in the original builds or are the new parts that far off?
|
Re: My 1952 truck.
I'm not sure AD, it does seem weird everything is off on the front end. My truck is a model 1433 which is a Canadian 1 ton. I was told the hoods a bit different?
|
Re: My 1952 truck.
1/2-1 ton chevy are all the same front sheetmetal. 1.5 ton and up changed, everything is a bit bigger.

I will be gluing in a piece of foam in these vents after paint. Ducts worked great.
|
Re: My 1952 truck.
I envy you with that dash!!!! nice filler piece, looks like it belongs there.
|
Re: My 1952 truck.
Thanks. I am going to make a polished moulding that will bolt on just over the vents and carry over onto the door panels and console.
|
Re: My 1952 truck.
Great idea! Came out really nice.

The script style CHEVROLET on your tailgate, is that raised aluminum or what? Looks real nice like that. |
Re: My 1952 truck.
pct, I took an old corvette valve cover down to the laser cutter. Had them cut me one 3' wide out of 3/16 stainless. Then I traced the outline onto a flat piece of metal. Then drilled holes within the outline, put the script in place and welded from the back. Then I cut out the original script and welded new script in. After paint I will sand the color off the script before it is cleared.

Still have to add a small piece from lower dash to column bracket. Then I need to notch the lower dash for my stereo and fab up a better stereo bracket.
