Hope your parts don't sit on the shelf as long as mine have. :o

Any weekend progress?

Unfortunately that's all they have done so far...is sit there.

This weekend was the big Halloween weekend at the local campground so that killed Sat. And Sunday was dedicated to fixing crap soooo...nothing got done.

How about your progress on the manspace or the remodeling?

Permit becomes 'effective' on the 14th, trusses got ordered two weeks ago, so as long as nobody submits a complaint things are good to go as soon as tomorrow.

My parts were here fitted up 5 or 6 times, my son came up with the solution, and now they are in transit back to DIY4X. No time to collect dust, they're accrueing frequent flyer miles:lol:

Haven't had much going on with the build for a while, but today she goes to the blasters. The frame, axles and springs are loaded on the trailer and ready to go.

Progress...coming soon! :metal:

Without going back through the thread...how's the drive train?
Ready to go?

What are the plans there?
Stock parts or are you adding/modding it?

Do you know what the axle gear ratio is?

Drive train is good. The engine had around 15,000 on it when I bought it and had some work done to it, mild came, bored out, etc. But the local engine shop is a friend and will go through everything just to freshen it up. The tranny, I was told has about 500 miles on the rebuild and the transfer case is an unknown. Everything will get a once over and a fresh paint job before going back in.
Once the frame comes back I will start in on it and figure out the axle ratio.

As far as mods, the shackle flip and all new grease-able bushings will be about the only mods right now, I just want to get this thing drivable. But who knows what the future will bring with more cool mods. 700R4? TBI? :uhmk:

Well...I picked up the frame from the blasters yesterday and I have my frame coating stuff from PM Industries, so it's time to get to work. Fun is on the way!!

I was surprised of how good of a job that they did. I'll definitely use them again.

Nice, good place to start...even the workshop is clean. Now I can watch you and Kurt get some work dun. Did you say you were goin' to replace the rear shock mounts?

Actually I already replaced the one that was bad, thanks to Yukon Jack. It was a PO handyman special.I do have to install my shackle flip and all new greasable bushings. But first I have to get my frame painted before Mr. Rust shows up.

Yeah well. I've got everything torn apart:lol: I'm at a point where I have to stay focused on one area, which is gettin' the motor runnin' rite now, but today's plan is to seal up the garage door and organize and clean the basement/ workshop

I think I spend as much time cleaning as I do working on the truck.

Staying focused for me gets tougher every day...do you think it's an age thing?

I think it is as much lifes priorities and CRAFT, the older we get the more crap gets dumped on us. Sometimes I feel like a mushroom...always in the dark and covered in sh!t, but I haven't lived for 60 years without doin' something right:lol:

Playin' with these trucks, is what relaxes me

Does that paint ya got go rite over the sandblasted frame or is there a primer?

Hopefully everything will be good until Sat. Looks like the first chance I'll get.

As long as the moisture is low in your garage you'll be ok. Keep the doors closed, don't be opening and closing them a bunch.

That's what I was thinking. I've got the heat going now to keep it dry and somewhat warm.

No not yet. I've got a butt load of body work ahead of me yet. Fun fun!

I'm going to do a firewall swap, inner & outer rockers, a little bit of the floors, etc. I guess I need to get crackin'!

I don't have a choice...I have to do it Sat. If not my $$ will be wasted.

I'm looking forward to getting it done. I've read the directions over and over and I think I have everything in place.
