That does look good. You can really see the shine.

I just read through this whole thing and I must say, thank you for the inspiration. My 77 is sitting pretty rough and I have never taken on a restoration project before (all my previous car building has been improving 94 and newer vehicles) and now I can see what the hard work and patience can get you. I really like what you've done so far.
I'm looking forward to following much of the same for mine.
Subscribing to continue watching this one.. Great work.

Thank you for the kind words! Its def been a process in which has slowed due to funds at the moment. And the fact i'm just enjoying it and don't want it to be torn down for long periods at a time. I do have some near future plans of replacing the front springs and all the shocks soon. I figure if i'm taking the front springs down I might as well pull the front 10 bolt and do the whole thing like I did the rear. Prob save it for winter or early spring.

Rebuilding the front drive shaft. Stripped it down then painted with Chassis Saver and Semi-gloss rattle.

Is the knuckle suppose to move freely or is it kinda hard to roll over per say..?

Restored the door pockets last night.

Cleaned them with purple power then wiped them down with a wet rag. Took the elastic out of a pair of old boxers and replaced the worn out ****. Came out pretty good with good snap back action! :metal:

Power steering leaks suck...

I noticed a drip starting to happen in the driveway and the hoses and frame being wet the last week or so. After an investigation, I found the pressure hose to have a small worn hole from the protruding brake line clamp screw going through the frame. Here's some pics of the tear down. I plan to clean it all up, paint it up and put on new hoses. Seems to work fine other than the leak.

Well im all in now. Time for a front 10 bolt rebuild, new leaf springs and shocks. Also going to redo the rest of the brakes that I left undone from last winter. I pulled the say bar out as it will get powder coated and re-bushed. I'll prob pull the motor so I can get to the lines easier and clean and paint the frame while i'm in the bay. Here's some pics of the disassemble. Time to buy some parts...

Looking good Mike, that is a lot of work. Since you have the axle pulled, you should install the ORD steering box brace.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox

Thanks Matt! I don't plan to run bigger than 31/32s on the truck. Do you think its necessary? I've inspected the area and seems to be solid and crack free. I'm going to pull the box and get a better look.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox

I put one on mine ( I run 33 x 12.50 tires). Mine did not have any cracks, but I feel even if the 2wd trucks can crack around the frame, it is cheap insurance to buy the brace if the frame is not cracked. Also on the 73-80 trucks the frames can crack even easier, because on 81 and up they have a little mini brace around that area from the factory. After I installed mine, it made quite a difference in the frame flex around that area, before I could actually see it move a little bit, now it doesn't move at all.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox

I guess I should consider it. I may even fab something up myself off the idea. ;)
