1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
I stumbled across this 1977 K10 Sliverado longbox that a guy I worked with had as a farm truck. I had bugged him for over a year to sell it to me and he finally did. This is my birth year to boot! I paid $1500 for the truck and a set of new doors and front fenders in primer black still in the bubble wrap. Other than the mid section being painted over the light blue, it's all original. I believe the wheels were painted black as well. 111,000 miles on the original 350 4bbl and 3 speed auto trans. I plan on restoring to original specs as my budget allows me to. The engine could have some modern touches I'll try and post pics as I move along with the restore. Thanks for looking and any comments or suggestions are more than welcome. This is a new ballgame for me and I need all the help I can get! Thanks again.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Thanks guys. So I popped the hood tonight and Purple Powered the **** out of the engine bay. Started her up and brought her to temp and out comes sweet smelling green fluid. I had to loosen some bolts on the shroud and tilt the radiator forward to find the leak pissin out. That being said I ripped it out and all the rubber hoses attached went ahead and took out the battery and rusting tray. Time for a new radiator. Any suggestions on a replacement? I'll be posting pics tomorrow.

I'll def keep the trim Willowrun! I want to try and keep it as original as possible. Does anyone know where to get the 77 trim from? I read that it's the only year with the yellow strip and its hard to find.. Here are some pics of the radiator tear out and the Owners Manual and Factory Service Manual that came with the truck.

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Been working on the wheels and cleaning the underside of the truck. Steel wool is amazing on chrome!! Lots of grease and dirt buildup and Purple Power is a friend in this department. Also put a fresh coat of paint on the bumper. The hitch will get a shot of flat black tomorrow. I stopped by the local u pull it and took some pics. Found a && C10 longbox that i'm going to scrap some parts from including the trim! Trying to talk them down on the price for the bed. Its nearly rust free with about 2 spots quarter size!

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Sweet truck! I still haggling on the bed so not much there as of now. I've been digging into the interior trying to clean up and analyze what needs to be replaced vs restored. I found a plastic gauge cover that was hands down better than mine and painted the faded to white gauge needles back to orange with a marker. Pulled the seat belts out and washed them in the sink with dawn and Purple Power. Replaced the broken passenger mirror and found some decent original heavy chrome headlight bezels. So far shes cleaning up very nicely, just need to find some paint to redo the door panels. Looking for the correct color.

Looks like a great truck to start with. Keep up the work. I find these old trucks are definitely worth it.

Picked up a tailgate today. $100 and original. It will be good metal to blast and paint up!

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Couple things I'm working on now. First is the radiator. I should gave this in next week. Also the exhaust. Any suggestions are welcome. I'm thinking 2.5 with Flowmaster Delta flow 50s. Question, did the stock tips angle 90 degree after the rear tire or at a slight angle?

Re: 1977 K10 Silverado Longbox
Grille and badge on and will do for now. I also dropped the tranny pan to change the filter and fluid and found this.. wonder what went wrong here? Def 2 welded spots. Trans seems to shift smooth and no damage inside when inspected.
