Hey All,

Thought I'd introduce my new aquisition and preface this build thread with the fact that I really won't get much done to it until the weather breaks here in the MUGGY south, but I wanted to start the thread on day 1.

Truck... 1968 2wd Custom SWB Fleet. 283 (?), 3 OTT, open diff rear. Options are few...push button radio, chrome front & rear bumpers, and side trim is about all I can make out on the SPID. Original paint, motor, trans, hubcaps, wheels etc. You get the jist.

Plan... 5.3/4L60e with CTSV oil pan, PSI harness and reflashed ECU, Jeep Wrangler rear tank with A/C Delco EFI pump and s/s fuel lines rear to front, Painless harness, Inlinetube stainless hardlines and s/s braided hard to caliper & rear lines, PB Mild front Dropmember, PB rear Mild/Touring rear dropmember with PB tubular rear trailing arms, PB crossmembers, bags, Staggered 18" Boss 338's, Wilwood 14" 6-piston fronts & Wilwood 13" rear brakes, built '70-72 12 bolt (Eaton diff, 3.73's), Wilwood M/C and p/v... I ALREADY HAVE THESE PIECES SO I WILL BE USING THEM :). I have lot's of other parts, but dang if I can remember them...

Wish list includes A/C, power windows & locks, scuff & clear the paint and drive the heck out of ole Walt.

Re: Walter DeWayne...Walt for short

I forgot the back story...

Bought it from the Grandson of the original owner (named Walter DeWayne "last name")...hence the inevitable name of the project. Last time Walter drove Walt was in 1984, the truck has literally been sitting in a "barn" since then. Move forward to 2014 and Grand Father died and grandson inherited the property and wasn't keen on ole Walt, so I scored him. I have the original bill of sale, books, pamphlets etc.

Did I mention that I'm STOKED!!!

SPID is certainly beat, but not much to see... Almost no options. And rust wise, it's really clean for this part of the country.

Re: Walter DeWayne...Walt for short

I've tentatively made an order for PB stuff from one of our board vendors. Mild front dropmember, tubular upper & lower control arms, trans crossmember, trailing arms & crossmember, R&P, front shock relocation brackets & 3 joint steering shaft.

nlped 07-19-2014 08:49 PM

Re: Walter DeWayne...Walt for short

PB trailing crossmember bought here on the site today. I need a mild md and trailing arms and I'm ready. Whoop whoop

nlped 07-24-2014 01:53 PM

Re: Walter DeWayne...Walt for short

Well, I got all the front PB dropmember stuff bought today from a member on here. Now all I need is a set of PB trailing arms & I'm set. Anybody :D ?

Bennett68C10 07-25-2014 05:52 AM

Re: Walter DeWayne...Walt for short

Nice parts pickup, you doing mild dropmembers front and rear?

nlped 07-25-2014 11:45 AM

Re: Walter DeWayne...Walt for short

No, in the rear I'm only going with the 2 piece notch, so very mild drop in the rear. If, by some chance, I could find the mild rear notch & bridge, I'd go that route though.

Nice score! I'll be following along. I like your plans, should be great when it's done.

this should be good, especially with the list of parts you mentioned.

nlped 07-28-2014 12:31 PM

Re: Walter DeWayne...Walt for short

And I got the PB trailing arms ordered this morning from member "LaidBackRecreations". I think that's all I need...at least for awhile

Well, it's been awhile since I've done anything related to ole Walt because of the newest acquisition, Chubby. But I did get over to the Fastenal store and pick up my PB front dropmember pieces & parts. Looks like everything is there, but the balljoints and CPP modular spindles aren't the '73 up pieces I was told :(, so I guess I'll have to sell the spindles and buy new balljoints. I'm going to use my McGaughy big brake spindles as I don't need the extra narrow"ness" of the CPP spindles with the 1" narrower PB control arms. I was going to use them on another project, but oh well.

Just a funny picture of my pickup vehicle... My wife drove my truck to work today, so I made do :metal:

Re: Walter DeWayne...Walt for short

All I'm waiting on is my trailing arms and I'll be PB equipped. Then I'll start tearing into Walt.

Thanks Josh!

Means a lot. I've followed a bunch of your builds, so I like that it meets your strict standard. I wish I had the that '54 you're selling. But I can't do the needed body work. Lol. I was stunned when I saw you were selling it.

Thanks a ton!

Nothing done to Walt, but I did play around with one of my other trucks and slapped my latest wheel aquisition onto it just to see how they look. It's amazing how a set of 22" Raceline Billet wheels can make an ugly truck look sexy :metal:

That looks like a nice pad for your foundation. Color me jealous! I wish I had the land for a shop to be built.
