http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/...ps06aa8b57.jpg http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2832c253.jpg a couple days later, i traded the huge 24's for a set of 20's. 24's are just too big for me and i could really feel the difference when i changed to the centerline 20's. acceleration and braking was greatly improved. the ride is a whole lot better too. im planning on getting 245/45/20's all the way around so i can do a 6/8 drop. it already has 2 inch shackles, so once i do the flip i'll be done in the rear. gonna do 3 inch coils and 2 inch spindles. if i can... i'll trim the 3 inch coils a little to make the front a 6. if i go 5 in the front, i can move my leaf spring bolts to the 1 inch drop hole in the shackle to make it 7 in the rear. i love these centerline 20's...i thought they were billet. it wasn't until after i traded and put them on my truck that i noticed they are actually chrome. so, they look billet but they stay clean like chrome...BONUS! |
Re: made2drag 95
Nice trade! I'm subbed for this one. Looks like you've got a solid start.

Re: made2drag 95
thanks. i took the bumper off last night. and i hope to start shaving a little here and there in the next week or two.

Re: made2drag 95
Nice thread! Im in! Just curious, why'd you decide to go the fleetside route? It'll look good either way, but I was just wondering your motives. Nice start.

Re: made2drag 95
I think its a good choice on the fleetside. For some reason, the step sides look odd to me on an extended cab

That guy is about 2 miles from my house. I have seen him parting out trucks but I have never stopped. Small world.

http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/...psd2af7e00.jpg http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/...psf6c677dc.jpg i got alot of the dent out, but looks like i'm still going to have to use a slide hammer to get more of it out. if it wasnt double walled on the inside, i could probably push it out. |

Re: made2drag 95
that really sucks man. Besides the bad news, I like what you're doing with the truck!

the bright side for me is getting a new window seal and putting limo tint on instead of the 20% that wasnt really dark enough for me. |
Re: made2drag 95
looking good bro..... sucks about the glass tho.
|
Re: made2drag 95
thanks. the new glass is in and im going to limo it. right now im thinking about shaving the gas door and trying to find the best way to mount another door of some type in the bed. im going to shave the passenger door handle and leave the driver door handle so i may leave the gas door as it is too. but the passenger side will be smooth for sure.

Re: made2drag 95

http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7582df20.jpg still have to slide the bed forward some and bolt it on tight. but the ride is great and i got about 8 or 9 inches in the rear. it already had 2 inch drop shackles and from my measurements i had 6 inches between the frame and axle and now the axle is about a half inch through the c notches. the axle does hit frame on big bumps. i have to raise my carrier bearing due to a slight vibration at 10 -15 mph and some around 45-55. kits i see have a 2 inch spacer, since i welded my axle pads on at 0 degrees im going to try 1 inch first and see if that fixes it. its almost like its vibration from having to cut part of my exhaust. i may lengthen the exhaust to reduce "drone" before messing with the carrier bearing. all in all it came out like i wanted it. cost was 11 bucks for the axle pads and 20 for each shock.....but 20 hours of labor. a flip kit would have taken half as long or less. funny...both times i took pics, it was raining. :) |

buying 2 inch drop spindles, hopefully mcgaughys or djm 3 inch coils....not sure which yet....(open to suggestions since this is my first C/K) i'd like to get a 3 inch coil that actually gives you more than 3 :) i may cut 1 coil off my stock springs and change the tires up front so i can make it look alittle better while saving up for new spindles and springs in the end, i'd like to get 6 inches in the front somehow and still have a good ride and clearance for this truck, since it is my daily....and my kids ride in it everyday |

Re: made2drag 95
i shimmed my carrier bearing using two 1/4 plates.....vibration is gone
smooth as stock now, it had me a little worried so i conquered it over the weekend. took like 15 mins i took some pics, i'll post them this week sometime |
Re: made2drag 95
