Re: made2drag 95

these pictures are from the previous owner who only had it for a couple months.
only has 156,000 miles and runs and drives great.
i'll have to charge the a/c, but everything else works like it should.
overall i am happy with it as a good start for a project.

Re: made2drag 95

a couple days later, i traded the huge 24's for a set of 20's. 24's are just too big for me and i could really feel the difference when i changed to the centerline 20's. acceleration and braking was greatly improved. the ride is a whole lot better too. im planning on getting 245/45/20's all the way around so i can do a 6/8 drop. it already has 2 inch shackles, so once i do the flip i'll be done in the rear. gonna do 3 inch coils and 2 inch spindles. if i can... i'll trim the 3 inch coils a little to make the front a 6. if i go 5 in the front, i can move my leaf spring bolts to the 1 inch drop hole in the shackle to make it 7 in the rear.

i love these centerline 20's...i thought they were billet. it wasn't until after i traded and put them on my truck that i noticed they are actually chrome. so, they look billet but they stay clean like chrome...BONUS!

Re: made2drag 95

i was coming back from a car show and noticed this truck being parted out and stopped to ask if the bed was for sale...he said he was selling it for 250
... and when i told him i had a step side bed he said "lets just trade straight, i have a 55 chevy and i want a newer stepside bed for it"....
it was 4 o'clock when we started....the new bed was on my truck at 6 o'clock.....talk about a quick bed change! it helped that the guy has a forklift!!
he is a salvage/scrap/demo guy for a living.

Nice trade! I'm subbed for this one. Looks like you've got a solid start.

Nice thread! Im in! Just curious, why'd you decide to go the fleetside route? It'll look good either way, but I was just wondering your motives. Nice start.

to me fleetsides have a smoother look and better lines where the bed meets the cab. and i didnt want to get into shaving rear steps. lol... i love the look of an all shaved fleetside's rear with a sir micheals roll pan.

by the way, your truck is really looking good!

I think its a good choice on the fleetside. For some reason, the step sides look odd to me on an extended cab

That guy is about 2 miles from my house. I have seen him parting out trucks but I have never stopped. Small world.

yup, i was coming back from the birmingham world of wheels and saw the truck and stopped by and asked him if he wanted my stepside bed. he whipped out the impact and forklift and we got it done on the spot...if you know anyone wanting anything off it...he says grab it before it gets scrapped. the guy is super nice and i think he said his name is bill ford. he scrapped the 56 ford truck he had out front not too long ago.

i live across from the horse farm on hwy 170 and williams road. ive got a 67 c10 that was bagged but im going back static, a 55 3100, an 86 c10 and my 95. maybe we will meet up again at another local show. i met a couple of you guys at the gold star park show.

i got alot of the dent out, but looks like i'm still going to have to use a slide hammer to get more of it out. if it wasnt double walled on the inside, i could probably push it out.

Re: made2drag 95

got it shaved and all pits filled and smoothed. unfortunately, a hot amber melted thru the glass and shattered it shortly after i tacked it in. so then i didnt worry about the glass and kept on truckin. i always thought people covered glass to save time cleaning later. oh well, a $170 newbie mistake i have to pay for on monday....

thanks man. got a silverado grille and a radiator and interior pieces from the junkyard today. a little here and a little there....i might lower it this month, if i get the time. the tires are too tall to go as low i want to go, so im not sure when im going to drop it. might try a 3/4 this month, then another 2/4 after tires. 5/8 drop with 255/35/20's will be the initial plan then try to go lower another inch or 2?

thanks! yea, it makes sense now thinking about the molten lava balls dropping....LOL. i figured if i went really slow like i did, i'd just have to wipe the window down. when i heard the loud pop, the first thing i thought was... oh, no....i warped the window frame and twisted it from heat. turns out it was the hot ambers.

the bright side for me is getting a new window seal and putting limo tint on instead of the 20% that wasnt really dark enough for me.
