ebay lsx swap adapters
2 Attachment(s)
I was looking online for some plates that are adjustable but not as expensive as the dirty dingo one and came across this on ebay...would this one work on my 74?

Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
That arch shaped cutout is a little pointless, but I don't see why not.

Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
The holes look to be in the right place. Just be wary of generic hardened hardware that comes with ebay stuff. I've heard everything from getting generic hardware store bolts, to black painted grade 5's (not in terms of the mounts, but various ebay parts over the years)

Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
DD adapters have been used by a lot of people with a great success rate. not to promote DD but in my opinion engine mounts take a beating and would not be where I would personally take the chance. I have DD mounts and have been abused as much as my little 4.8L will abuse them without fail. i guess a bigger deal if you have solid mount engine mounts vs rubber/poly. The mounts I bought was the entire upper engine mount as one piece, not an adapter to your old upper mount.

Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
I am using those exact adapter plates on my 85 and they fit great! Hardware seems to be of good quality, 1 year and no problems thus far.

Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
im thinkin now maybe I should just go with the dingos...may be well worth it in the longrun
|
Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
I bought those exact plates as well. Pretty solid construction and the bolts don't seem like run of the mill hardware store stuff. Mine came unpainted but I imagine they'd look great powdercoated.

Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
Picked them up last summer, so it hasn't been all that long. My truck isn't even tuned yet to be honest, but I've still driven it a few thousand miles on poly mounts. Seem to be doing fine. They have a really nice weight to them that gives me some confidence. I actually heard about them from ls1tech so you might want to search there too to find some reviews. Seller is cutthroat4x4 but I believe his real name is Matt.

Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
ok kool man thanks...that's the seller...I have the mounts on my ebay watch list

Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
So I ended up getting these mounts on ebay. I thought it came with the green thing in the pic above but the guy said it was just to show the adjustability feature and is not included. So how does the mount work since I have clam shell style mounts?

The green thing looks like a universal solid motor mount. You can use the clam shell bracket off of your block, different shape but same bolt pattern. Random pic from elsewhere on this site:

Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
Go with the dirty dingo's simple and adjustable

Re: ebay lsx swap adapters

Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
I dont know yet as i havent started the actual swap yet but it is a 3 position mount plate...stock location, 1 inch forward and 1 inch back. Billett and Blackpony are running these mounts too...maybe they'll input some info about the driveshaft
As for the shift linkage I have a b&m floor shifter in my truck so ill have no problems with that...hopefully lol |
Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
I painted them and mounted them to my engine yesterday...fits up perfect and the hardware works well

not really true i used the drity dingo sliders and only thing that lined up was the stock linkage, i had to shorten my drive shaft over 6 inches |
Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
I swapped to a 4l80 so I needed the driveshaft cut anyway. Same with the linkage, Mine was a 4 speed on the floor, with a 3ott column. Swapped to a tilt auto column and picked up the lokar shift linkage kit. No problems with clearance issues though.

Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
I have a feeling ill have to cut mine too...im going to be runnin a 4l60e

Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
Now you just have to move the transmission X member to the rear 3"
|
Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
Just seen this thread. I havr been running these brackets for almost 2 years now with 0 issues. They came raw metal so I just hit them with a little rustoleum and good to go. I also use the factory rubber mount and factory clam shell with these. If you set them back one inch it puts the trans in the factory spot. With my th350 and 4l60 the driveshaft went right in with 0 modifications. It literally took only these plates to bolt the ls in using the stock mounts and trans. Also the factory shifter linkage bolted right up to both transmissions. Hope this helps anyone else looking at these out. They made the ls swap a piece of cake.

How much clearance do you have on the cylinder head on the passenger side head to firewall? Did you not move the X member for the trans to the rear? |

and if you have access to a welder, for the price of the mounts you can make your own for under 20 bucks. |
Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
i was gonna make my own, but the hour or so to run to the metal yard, and another two to cut and drill them it was easier to work an extra hour or two at work and get them off ebay for $40. plus if they were ****ed i'd have someone to be upset with other than myself.

Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
@ ivorton74, yes it does thanks you. I am having a issue though. my clam shells do not line up with the rubber mounts on cross member. its about an inch past were it needs to be to push bolt through. Also do these clear low mount ac when utilizing the 1 inch set back location ?
|
Re: ebay lsx swap adapters
Im not sure about the ac with these mounts...im not running ac on mine
