1967 C20 Flatbed Driver Project

We have had this truck since May and have slowly been working on getting it to be a driver.
I will start with some pics of when we got it. |

First thing we had to do was get rid of the camper. Four pickup loads of garbage and one load scrap aluminum later.

Then we had to cut 30" out of the frame to get back down to the 127" wheelbase. We also cut a couple feet off the back of the frame.

Then we were at the junk yard getting some other parts and walked by a 71 dump and noticed it was a small window. We cut the section out and here are some pics of it welded in, the start of body work and some primer.

And that is where we are now. I will post some more pics soon. We still need to put a passenger rocker on it, Install the gas tank and a few more things but getting close to being a driver.

Today we bolted the bed on and welded the bumper on.
Also installed the tail lights and wired them up. |

We had these tool boxes in the garage for a while with the thought of using them for tool storage and they happened to be the right size.

Picked up a 62 gmc with a newer flatbed and decided it would look nicer on the 67
Going to clean it up, paint it and install the tool boxes. |

Wire wheeled the bed, got it prepped and painted. Will post some finished pics tomorrow.

That Flat bed looks Awesome!!!
I like that rear sliding window. This is Probably the direction I will go with my Truck. I have a C30 157 WB with a small back glass. |

Wired up the lights and they work!!
Also installed the spare tire carrier. |

Here are some pictures I took today. It's mostly back together. The paint job came out good, far from perfect but great for a driver.
Before we installed the windshield we repainted the top of the dash and dash pad. We pulled the inner fenders before it was painted and cleaned up the engine bay (it was nasty). Both inner fenders had a little rust so instead of having to sandblast/repair them we bought new ones. We are going to go back and paint the inside of the doors and door jams. |
