6l80 to NP205 shifter issues...
1 Attachment(s)
Anyone on here put an NP205 transfercase behind a 6l80 with an Advance Adapters kit? It looks like a nice adapter, but there's no where to bolt the shifter to it.... Wondering if someone has come up with a solution before I start fabricating some kind of a mount on my own.

Not to hyjack the topic but how are you shifting your 6L80E?
My 6L80 has a 208 behind it and I plan on using a shift kit from JB Customs - jb-customs-fabrication.myshopify.com They do have a NP205 kit for $278 |

I have heard about the JB Custom cable shifter, that's what Advance Adapters said to use, but to run the 205 I'm pretty sure you would need the twin stick with 2 shifters and 2 cables, none of which I'm a fan of. Going to try and fab up something I guess since it appears no one has done anything like that yet, so there's no off the shelf answer. |

I used roughly the same same set up on mine. L96/6L90 with an Advanced Adapter kit. I wanted to keep the stock appearance and not add a twin stick set-up. I had to cut down the 6L90 out put shaft and add a 3/4" spacer to the adapter, so I would have enough splines in the transfer case output shaft. Used 2" flat stock and formed it around the curve of the adapter. Then welded on some sides and a plate to bolt it in 2 places on the transmission tail. Used a couple spacers to get the correct fitting and extended the arm to the transfer case about 1-1/2", so the stock shifter would sit at the correct angle.

Yeah, I ended up doing roughly the same thing. Its not pretty,, but looks like it is going to work out fine.

Looks good!!
I was happy with the Advanced Adapter kit, but they sure could do a better job with shift arm mounting options. I've gotten a lot of tips that have pointed me in the right direction from your previous postings. Keep up the good work. Thanks |
