what size tires
 

any body know what size tire I could run on a 1993 chevy 1500 with a 6 inch suspenion lift and a 3 inch body lift. I will not be doing any hardcore offroading mainly driving it on the street.

35 12.50s i think is what i was told.

A friend of mine runs 39.5 super swampers. He does go in the mud every now and then. I personally have seen them rub once when he fell into a washout at about 40mph. Looks mean as hell to!:devil:

i know someone with only a 3" bl and he runs 35x12.50's so you could fit way bigger than that

I would stay away from the Body Lift and you would still be able to run 35's with no problem. and make sure to use all Spring Lift for the 6" Suspension. Blocks are horrid.

IoWnZa, this is an IFS truck. you cannot lift the front with springs, as there are none. as for the blocks, it depends on what he's doing, and what he has under the hood. if its a primarily stock truck, and he only plays occasionally, it will be just fine with blocks. i'd personally do a shackle flip before i put lift springs on the back.lift springs have more arch, and therefore, less compression, which isnt good for flex, and flex is good for wheeling.

My brother has a 6 in. susp. and a 3 in. body. He ran 35x14.50x15 swamper boggers with no problems. It looks like he could probably run 37 or 38's not sure on the width though. He started out with just the 6 in susp. and his 35x12.50 wranglers rubbed on tight turns.

My old 92 had 35x12.5x15 of 15x10 rim and a 6 inch trailmaster lift. I would rub putting out of my city driveway and turned. I hacked the fenders 3 inches and took 3 inches off the bumpers. With a 3 inch body lift, I would run probaly 36x14.5 on stock fenders. Plus remember, if you still have you 3.42 gears, with 35s that gear reduces to about a 2.83. In other words a real dog. I drove my truck hard, and with only 35s went throught that cheap IFS like it was nothing. 3 CV Joints, 3 Hub assememblies, inner and outer tie rods, pitman arm, and numerous other items. Just add it up, if you are in the planning stage still, RUN A SOLID FRONT AXLE CONVERSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:banghead: :whine:
P.S. With a add-a-leaf and 4 inch blocks in back, I went throught 2 sets of blocks because I kept breaking the nipples off of them with the axle wrap, finally found a way to fix and reuse the blocks.

this was my friends old truck.
it has a 6in lift, 3 in body, torsion bars cranked, and bigger blocks out back for a total of 11in of lift. it is runin 38's

That is a good looking rig. I cranked my torsion bars once, but then let then back down. It all depends on the use of the vehicle for torsion bar twisting. Go for it if you just want the truck to look pretty, but don't if you want to use it. I found two problems with cranking the bars; 1: any time I made a turn at more than 2 1/2 mph the tires would squeel before of the stiffness and for that same reason 2: I had no articulation. That is one pet peeve of mine, if a vehicle is fast, drive it fast, if it lifted, get it muddy. In other words USE YOUR TRUCK LIKE IT WAS INTENDED FOR!!
