Leaking fluids
My rear main seal has always leaked but not bad at all. Recently the truck has been leaving puddles. It looks like the oil dipstick tube is leaking. Does it have an O-ring or sleave to seal it?
My tranny cooling lines leak just a tad. How can I stop them from leaking? My rear differential has started leaking too. 3 leaks! Grrr!!! I guess it gives me me an excuse to change the rear cover to an aluminum or clear cover. |
Dipstick tube has an O-ring...a new O-ring and a small amount of silicone sealer should fix that. I would put a little bit of teflon tape on the tranny cooler line threads, that should stop that leak.

Tranny cooler line is a flare. If it's leaking then it is either not tight enough or the flare is damaged. Becarefull about over tightening into the side of the tranny. It's aluminum and can be stripped.
I think there is an adaptor there and if so where the adaptor fits into the tranny the Teflon tape is the ticket like bigblock73 said. |
since it is a flare fitting, teflon tape will ruin it and not let it seal properly, this is the case with all flare and compression fittings (i work at a hardware store i know these things :) )
|
So how can you fix the flare or the compression fitting?
