Help starting my 1988 GMC 1500

Hi everyone brand new to posting but a long time lurker! I have enjoyed reading and getting TONS of help from here. But now it is time that I post because I can't get this solved yet?

My 1988 GMC 1500 has been starting really hard lately. And today it just stopped starting. It turns over and cranks but I am not getting any spark. I have already replaced the ignition coil and still no spark. Could the distributor need to be replaced next? And just so you all know I have checked out all the fuses and recently had the fuel pump replaced. So any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks! :gmc:

Check if you are getting spark at the coil, and at the distributor. Also while cranking probe the terminals on the coil with a test light, one of em should be pulsing if your getting a signal from the distributor to the coil.

Ok heres an update........

I had purchased a new coil and it was bad. Got another one and the truck started right up but than stalled after about 5 seconds running. Now it continually does this. Once I do get it running it runs fine for a while but then I was at a stop sign and pressed the gas and it drove about 20 feet and just stalled. I can't figure this out and am getting really frustrated. Any help will be very much appreciated!
