need info on distributors
the 68 wouldnt fire so i traced it down to a burnt wire going into the coil, what are some causes of that? what brand, type coil should i replace it with? Im thinking of getting a whole new distributor since it wasnt rebuilt when i put the truck together, any help as to what to look for?

heres a pic of what happened, any guesses? And why is it that if you lay anything on the floor it atracts cats like a magnet?

I see you have a newer electronic version. Check the plug wire closest from that termial to see if it was arcing over. You can get a new one at NAPA or the dealership. Might want to get new plug wires too.

Wages if ya get a new distributor call me.

binford may have nailed it, but I'll take a guess too.
Did the red wire (power) rub on the metal plates of the coil (ground)? That would explain the sudden loss of smoke in the wire! Good Luck! |
thanks for the help, ill look at the plug wires when i get the truck home, its a few hours away right now.
