Don't show your face around here again unless you run 14.7 or better. :D :p
Just for comparisons sake Eric. When Yeller was small block powered, it ran a best of 14.6 @ 92mph. This was a 350 block bored .030 over to 355. Stock 882 cast iron heads with Crane roller rockers, Edelbrock performer RPM intake, Crane cam, Holley carb, headers, shift kit & 2200 stall converter, and 4.10 gears. Basically it was a stock block with cheap bolt on upgrades done in stages. Had I had a couple more runs, it would have run even better (we were playing with timing, jets, springs, etc) If you are concerned with going fast, your first two priorities should be tires and gears...then go from there. |
atleast i have a friend to race tonight!!!
its a civic....... but he just swapped in a new engine so he might beat me badly........ or not |
If you get bet by a CIVIC please dont tell us!!
|
I bet the Civic has better gears!
|
i killed the civic. but all those damn srt-4s killed me:(
best race: rt: .451 60': 2.412 1/8: 9.872 mph: 74.97 1/4: 15.094 mph: 94.15 the best my friend ran in his civic was 16.4 |
Not bad. Your 60ft time is bad with that open rear though. Although, even with my truck that has a spool I ran a 2.4 60ft on crappy street tires and crappy track. I put my slicks on for the next run and turned 1.9 60ft (still on crappy track cond) Big difference in E.T. though!

81 shavedtrk was that 12.28 @ 110 mph on the bottle or all engine?
|
Hmmmm.... I really figured you would have done better than that. Not a bad MPH but figured a lil more. :)
At least you had fun though. |
i just changed out the bushing in the dizzy a minute ago.
i'm using the blue bushing(21 degrees) with the light blue and light silver springs. all in by around 2800 rpms. last night i was running the silver bushing(25 degrees) and the same springs. it was pinging slightly when i ran the 15.09et with the initial timing at around 14 degrees. i set the timing back to 15 initial with the new bushing and it isnt pinging anymore and seems to run about the same. |
You mean to tell me my iron headed 355 with redneck ingeniuty Runs better than that high dollar holley setup?

pretty good man. if you swap to 3.73's from 2.73's it will feel like your spraying 100 shot compared to what it was before. should put you low 14's. :metal:

i know my tires are gonna be a huge part in that though |
Get some modifed Tires They run well and hook decent on a pair of 8" wheels Ive got a pair mounted up with screws and tubes on some old wagon wheels painted black They get soft if you get a fresh pair

Trap speed won't win you a race, low ET's will! The boy needs GEARS. The only place I would be "racing" with 2.73's is Bonneville!  |
as most of my racing is done on the street versus all these crappy little rice burners and whatever else comes along, theres no clocks or stopwatches from a stoplight, just gas and go.
I had to take down my rearview mirror because im getting sick of seeing so many so far behind me. (actually the heat made it fall off lol) |
