Open to Posi Rear Conversion- How?
I have a 72 K10 GMC with a leaf spring readend. When I spin one wheel the other spins in the opposite direction so I believe I have an open or non-posi rearend.
What is the most efficient and cost effective way to convert it to a posi? What is the technical difference between a posi and a locker? Thanks! |
Don't know about a locker but you need to know what gears you have or planning to use and buy a posi unit compatible. I paid $280 for my eaton.

if you drive your truck on the street you want a limited slip diff. if it is for off road, go with a positive locking diff. thats not to say that you cant use a locker on the street, they can just be a little noisy and give you some front end push or under steer. once you get used to the driving charatoristics, i think you will like the locker. i have a locker in my 72, and have a samurai with lockright lockers front and rear. if you go with a lockright, you can use your carier. the instructions are easy to follow and in about an hour, you can be done. good luck!! :burnout:

I want to do the same thing. I know nothing of the subject. But I am about to learn. I think I may go with a mini spool, but I'm not sold on it yet. I want to drive it once in a while as well as race it.

the only way a spool is good on the street is if you like to brake parts
|
I don't want that to happen. I guess I'll keep it off the street, and on the track...
