Axle Experts....quick question
 

I was readin through the other posts and got confused on axels and numbers and stuff soooo.....

does anyone know off the top of their head the axle ratio for a 90 Blazer...700r4 trans w/350 small block? and what a good axle combo would be for it if I plan on muddin every now and then, but mostly a daily driver for now? its a beefed up 350 too so its got some rpetty good horse.

if it's a stock, untouched axle, it should have a tag on it somewhere, telling the ratio...also, prime axle ratio depends on tire size

Check the glove box door tag and write down any codes that start with the letter "G" then call the chevy parts counter guy at your local dealer, I know my code on a 91 PU was GUU, it was in the high 2's .... It's been a while & I sold that truck a few years back. :b69:

About a 90 percent chance of being 3.73s

3.42 or 3.08 are very common in these last few years of the K5 Blazer/Jimmy.

The 'G' codes from the glovebox indicate a ratio. Post the codes here for decipering our you can probably Google them up yourself.

oh sorry tire size right now are 33's on a 4in lift

i think 3.73 would be fine thats what I'm running on my 97 with 33"s

I have 33" on my 78 and it has 4.10's in it. It gets down pretty good when you got it in the mud...Later Mike

if your running a 700r4 and 33" tires go with a 4.56 i had the same combo in my suburban 350/700r4/33"tires/4.56 ran like a raped ape, plus at 60mph you are only running 1950 rpm and at 75 2437rpm, you will probably get better gas mileage around town due to the mechanical advantage your gear will give you. also if you ever want to step-up to 35 or even 36 tires you will still have enough gear which is what i did.
