Is the vacuum for the tranny hooked up to the carb?

Josh 03-30-2005 12:19 AM

Could either be the vac modulator or the governor, thats what i'd check first...

avejoe 03-30-2005 12:21 AM

Once my truck would not shift out of first. I had knocked the vac line loose.

Will the trans shift through the gears if you run through them manually (L1, L2, D) instead of starting just in Drive?

72gord 03-30-2005 09:42 AM

That would be my guess...vacuum line off at one end or the other, should shift up manually though.

Russell 03-30-2005 12:22 PM

Mine did that too, cept if you really pushed it,then it'd shift. I just knocked the modulator line off enough that it looked like it was on, but it wasn't :P

Longhorn Man 03-30-2005 05:55 PM

yep, if you shift it manually, and it shifts, then your modulator is either not hooked up...not getting proper vac...or inoperative.
